How many clubs do you take to the range?

Take the whole bag myself. Usually start with a short iron, then a mid iron, work through my woods before practicing chipping and pitching.

I take them all if I am there for fun and just a 6 iron if I am working on a part of my swing. I don't go to the range as much now as I can hit balls in the garden, in the garden it's a 6 iron or a hybrid.

My 3 wedges my 6 iron 3 wood and as much as i hate seeing people blasting away endless amounts of balls with a driver just banging them into a field i take that as well.....

But only because i struggle with the driver......
Im a bit different to most in that i love hitting my 3 wood so i start warming up with that to get my rhythm and then my wedges get the most range time.

I should really be devoting the most time to my driver as its the only one i seem to struggle with but i just seem to loose focus with it too quick....

I dont like the idea of just walloping balls into nowhere.

them all. after i left my 7 iron behind me one day and no one handed it it. i just take the bag in and remove one when i use it.

the whole lot, on a weekend I usually hit 50 balls, grab some food, spend 40 mins chipping & pitching, putt for a bit then hit the remaining 50ish balls.

On a weeknight I do as above without the food an 50 balls first.

I dont like the idea of just walloping balls into nowhere.

Pick two flags or two markers etc about a fairways width apart, hit 5 balls. If its a good shot and lands on the fairway its 5, if its on the edge of the fairway its 4, if its outside the fairway or a weak contact (ie toe or heel) shot its 3, if it hooks or slices its 2, if its topped or duffed its 1, if you miss it then its 0 :D

I do this then try to beat it, each time lining up the shot. A variation is to do it but hit all shots as a fade or all as a draw. I do this a lot and I think my driving is good.

I also do it for other clubs too, getting more and more narrow for the 5 score as I go down the clubs.

I take all of them. Never hit the same club two shots in a row and never aim at the same target twice in a row.

I think you should try my game from above, if its too repetitive try doing it with an 8 iron then try and beat the score with a 7 iron. I do that sometimes and it helps ensure I am good right through the bag.

Personally I take the whole bag and decided what I to use when I'm there.

If there is something I really want to work on eg 8iron, I will hit several balls with it, then switch to another club and then go back the 8 and so on. That way your stimulus-response bond strengthens.

If you take too few clubs or hit a large amount of the same shot, generally you won't improve that much.

Totally agree with that! Got to have variety! I love making up games on the range, sometimes its as much fun as the golf :D

Another favourite is playing a course I know well, select the club, see the shot, play the result. That works great for honing the game! Also makes the first tee shot in a big comp less nerve-wrecking as you have played it over and over in practice.

I usually play an imaginery round at my home course. Hit every club i would hit on each hole etc and hit each shot from then accordingly apart from the putting of course. That usually takes me all through the bag and helps to recreate the pressure of a round. Ive only been doing it for about 6 weeks and it working quite well so far, helps with focus rather than banging aimless balls.

full bag to my GC range as all balls catered for. Just 3-4 to the local range at £7.50 a bucket

No bags allowed on my range.

I might just take a 7 iron if I'm working on a particular swing change. Otherwise I like to have 9, 7, 5 irons and 3 wood and driver.

I like to hit them in turn, picking out a target for each.

I take my bag.
All my clubs are in my bag.
Don't understand just taking a couple - you don't have to use them all......

Ah, but around here, most of the ranges don't allow a bag.

Bag allowed? I take all 16 in my bag.
No bag? I take 4 or 5.
