How many clubs do you take to the range?

Not allowed bags in my local range. Why is itt that some let bags in and some dont??
I normally take, my PW, 7 and 4 irons, 5 wood and my driver. Warm up with a few short pitches, work my way up to my driver, then back down to my PW, finidh off with my 5 Wood

Ah, but around here, most of the ranges don't allow a bag.

Never heard of that before! I would carry 20 clubs tied with an elastic band just to be like that! Is it to save space? Most carry bags probably dont take up that much room, 4 or 5 clubs spread out is probably no different!

No golf bags allowed at our range too
I believe it's so you can't steel the balls

Depends why I go to the range on that occasion.

Sometime I just take my 6/7 iron to work on swing change. So really just take my 6/7 iron.

But if I'm going regular more than 3 times a week I will take my bag (easier to carry than loose clubs) and work through my clubs on evens (PW, 8, 6, 4H) or odds (9, 7, 5 3H, 3W) I usually start with wedges or most lofted, 5 half swings each club, 5 3/4 swings, then 10 full swings each club. After that I go on to play my course on the range, it helps me visualise my shots (or at least thats the aim)

Take the bag that holds them all. Generally only have 40 balls - hit a few shots with care and thought with each iron/club, rather than bash away willy-nilly at a large number of balls; start with 7 iron, then 5, rescues, fairways, driver, 7, 9, 52 wedge. Then to the short game practice area to practice some chipping, and finish on the putting green.

Really.

That seems kind of unusual?

Yep. How many times do you hit same club in a row on the course bar the putter? Ive just been trying to recreate conditions of a proper round and recreate that importance of each shot. I dont see the point in hitting 50 balls or whatever at the same target because you only get one chance on the course. It gets me in the routine of setting each shot up from scratch rather than firing a ball and just adjusting a bit each time until i hit the target etc.

I take them all. I hit some wedges and short irons to warm up. If I'm working on a swing change I tend to use the 7 iron as its fairly easy to hit and I'll go through the drills. If its a normal practice I'll go through the bags usually oods one session and evens the next (back to the OP thread) and then the hybrid, woods and up to the driver. I usually take 5 balls or so per club and ALWAYS go through my set up. I step off the mat after each shot as I find that stops me instantly reaching for the next one if I hit it badly.

I sometimes try and shape the ball for a bit of fun but usually give myself a target to aim at with my 5 balls and score myself on how close I get and try and beat the score from last time

Why on Earth would anyone want to steal range balls..?

Probably for practice at home Murg....
Our range has the same rule.....

Thing is if i go to the club practice area i just take the bag of balls that i have at home...They are usually a collection of every different type of crappy ball that i usually find in the cabbage after iv hit a brand spanking new ProV1 into.....

Why the hell is that?
You hit a tour ball in and you come out with a half a dozen rocks:mad:

i used to get bored easily and just tump balls for the sake of it. Then had lessons and had to learn a new swing so was a bit more structured. Now summer is here i go to my clubs practice grounds and due to the fact of you take your own balls and have to go and get them i seem to be working on my 100yrd in more than driving haha. But to be fair i have been stupidly slack recently and not had a decent range session for a while

Dont go to the range as I have a large park across the road. Will take just the one club, if working on something. But most of the time take say Driver, 6 and PW. play a pretend round. Drive to a target, then play it as it lies with the 6 then same with the PW to a pretend green. Just have abit of fun really. Surprising how quick an hour goes to.

Usually take the full bag. Start at 7 iron, 5 shots. Then I work up via 5i to 21* at top. If it starts fail then I go down one club e.g: 24* then start dropping by 2 (6i, 8i etc) and where it starts working again play 10 shots then start working up again. A really bad session gets me through the whole bag. If it goes reallyreally bad I'll set a ball up on part of the matt and putt another aiming to hit it as the matts a very smooth. Amazing how much easier hitting another ball is compared to hitting the hole.

Have stopped going to the range now as there is zero give and it's like hitting concrete if I hit fat. Now nursing a bit of golfers elbow and have cut back on practice and rounds. Not a good thing to happen 3 weeks after paying membership for the year!

clubs are always in the car so i tend to just grab the bag, if im working on one area then i will normally warm up with wedges, then 8i, then work on what ever, but if its a general practice it will be a virtual 9 holes through the back.

I take them all, in the bag, and then spend an hour only hitting the 6i. If I ever middled it, I'd swap to a different club, but I never have yet. Still early days, I've only been playing 25 years.

No bags allowed on my local range so I generally have a plan of what I'm going to work on and only take the clubs I need. I bought a club carrier last year and it's a great wee thing to have in the car.
Heading up the practice ground tonight (I know it's not the range) but only 2 clubs going with me, 52* and 56* and all 100 balls are going at the short pin targets several times as I sucked with the wedges last night.

If I'm just going for a bit of practice I'll take a wood, a mid iron and a wedge.

If I'm working on something specific to do with my swing I only take one club, anything from a 5 to an 8 depending on how I feel.
