How far would you travel to your home club ?

I'm lucky that my club is only ten minutes away (£11 in a cab) and the course that HID works at is only 20 minutes away so I can get to both nice and easily. The range I use is 20 minutes in the opposite direction so all the bases are covered.

The great thing about Ascot is there are no booked tee times (apart from comps) so you can roll up after work and just head out or onto the practice ground. It means I can play loads of summer golf and/or work on my game.

There are a few pay and plays near me but I wouldn't dream about using them at weekends and apart from where HID works (where you have to book a time anyway) most of the other clubs near me are mega expensive (The Berkshire, Wentworth, Mill Ride etc) so I think I have the best of all worlds

Distance is definitely a factor in my choice.
When I joined Aylesbury Park the fact that its on the edge of town, about 10 minutes from home was a big plus. I'd toyed with Aylesbury Vale but its another 10 minutes away.
If I get a cancelled lesson and I have enough time I can be playing at APGC within 20 minutes. I'd need an extra half hour on top of that to play AVGC.

If it's the right club then a 45 minute drive is probably the maximum for me.

Currently i'm only a few minutes from my club and my mam lives just behind the course so if i need the kids minding while i play golf its easy to drop them off and pick them up.

Colin, where was you thinking of going to?

I was thinking of joining Frodsham before i joined my club but the only thing put me off was the bridge and it's constant damn roadworks.

Not sure yet Stu, drawing up a shortlist but think I want to keep it at 30 minute drive. I'll join your place if your mum will mind my kids ;)

Which club did you join Stewart?

My nearest is Meltham just 10 mins across the valley.
My home club Bradley is 20 mins and halfway between home and work.
I can also get to Sheffield Tinsley park in 20 mins, which used to be 5 mins from my last place of work.
Would really like to be within walking distance but that is not an option at present.

Know a few guys in Inverness who travel to Royal Dornoch, which must be 45-50 miles.

depends on the club.

Mind you i go to Tain most weeks which is 35 at least.

If I played once a week (18 in a weekend comp) I'd stretch to 30 minutes e/w probably.

As it is, even under 10 is mildly annoying. There is a better club/course in my town, but it's the other side of the town, so it could be anything from 8-28 minutes. My club is "rush-hour" proof, which is good for 9 after work.....(as often as possible :))

:D :D had a word with her pal she said no problem though there would be a hourly rate of £8. double bubble at weekends too ;)

I was a member there until the start of this year but starting a family got in the way :)

Its a nice club, I belive the greens have been outstanding this summer?

Currently having the same dilemma having moved house. Nothing great inside half an hours journey or so and its a fine line between longer travel and poorer course. Going to settle for poorer course short term and re-visit the decision in the spring for now

You will probably recognise my ugly mug if you played in the comps.
