How far do you travel...........

Not COVID related, but in a normal world, how far do you travel from home / workplace to your golf club?

My club is 10 miles from my house, it was half a mile from my workplace until I started working from home in March (one of main reasons for joining last winter was proximity to workplace, so I could nip down twice a week after work for 9 or 18 holes in the lighter months).

Deliberating joining a new club which is 13 miles from home but as I now have a new job in another location, this would increase to 20 miles each way from my new workplace (when offices go back next year). Potentially stuck in heavy motorway traffic around 4-5pm to play midweek.

Does distance impact your choices when joining / changing to another club?

3 1/2 miles as the crow flies, 10 -11 minutes in the car.
Distance is certainly a consideration
One of the many reasons for moving this year was to cut the travelling by half.
If I'd still been at the other club between lockdowns I'd have spent about 130 quid extra on fuel alone.

9 miles, 14 minutes. A simple journey with minimal traffic.

Distance absolutely matters to me. Too far and it puts you off the quick 9 in an evening in summer, it becomes more of an event to plan and work around. Playing golf takes long enough on its own without adding an hour or more for travelling, total. That would be unfair to my wife, family etc.

2 miles 3-4 minutes. It was a part of my decision. I had 3 clubs within 10 minutes and 7 within 20 but I still ended up with the closest. Other factors included the course, people who I knew that already played there and inevitably, the cost.

My course is 10 minutes drive from my home. The new club I'm planning to join is even closer. It made more difference to me being nearby since I can't drive so if none of my mates were around I'd have to get the bus down. :p

Local club is at the end of the road and is where I play most of my golf, practice & socialising etc (spent close on 10hrs there last Sunday alone!) but I can’t afford membership so it’s not really ‘my’ golf club

My course is a 5 minute walk or drive (longer way round) from home. Id be impressed with anyone who lived closer than a fields distance to their club!

i'm a memeber at 2 clubs, one is about 5 mins walk away, the one i play at most is close to 18 miles, only takes half hour to get to. have been a member of somewhere that was 40 miles away, and when i was a member played there every week. if the course is worth it i would travel.

10 miles from home, about 17 mins to drive with relatively little traffic. Is 60 miles from my office, but now only 10 miles ;). Am anticipating working from home almost permanently going forward.

12-13 miles, anywhere between 20- 35 minutes depending on traffic or skool runs.
A pal of mine has bought a bungalow that backs onto his golf course carpark at worksop. He has had the back garden landscaped and had a gate put in to walk straight Into the carpark.

Pretty much identical for me.

Sitting at my desk typing this, I can look out the window and see the trees from my local course. My neighbours' gardens back on to the course - I've always dreamed of living in a house which backs on to a nice course. Maybe one day!

I actually drive 5 miles to play golf - even though there are several nearer courses.

6 miles and 10 minutes for me. I actually moved recently and have moved further away. I used to live 3 miles away. I don’t think I would consider more than 30-40 minutes travel though.
