Hi guys,I recently realised that hitting a few half power wedge shots is not enough to warm up properly before a round.Unfortunately I pulled my pectoral muscle and won't be playing for at least another week! What do you do for a warm up? Do you bother at all? Please discuss,I look forward to hearing your answers!

Given enough time I'll go to the practice area and spend a wee while hitting some chips and pitches, then into the nets for maybe five shots with each of 9, 7, 5 irons followed by a couple with 3 wood then a few with driver.

Then onto the putting green for a few minutes.

If I don't have time it's out with the driver for big Miguel-style swings then a few normal practise swings then off.

Tend to get to the club about 45-60 minutes before I'm due out. 10 minutes stretching and loosening up. Few wedges and half shots and then gradually hit through the bag. Important to remember its a warm up and not a range session so no swing thoughts. Hit a few drivers to finish then 6-10 in the bunker. Nip off to get my card, comfort break, tees etc and then off to the putting green and hit some chips and then finish with some putts. I make sure the last thing I do is hole a putt from 2-3 feet to have mental image of the ball going in

Arrive 45-60 minutes before. Go to the range few sings no ball to warm muscles up then a few stretches. Hit a few wedges mainly then 7i's 5i's hybrid and driver. Over to the green for putting and chiiping.

Must admit I like homers idea of holeing short ones before leaving the green.

Cup of tea and a bacon roll normally does the trick for me then straight onto the 1st tee

Thanks for the comments guys, especially Homer,I too like your 2-3 foot putt idea! The days of just a coffee and bacon roll are gone for me alas! Any details on what type of stretching to do? Cheers guys!

Like Homer, get there 60 mins before tee time, get paid up and signed in and head to the range. Put a 7 and 9 iron together and do a few half, them full swings to warm my arms up. Then go through 7, 9, SW, 5 and a few drives. Always end my driver on my shot thoughts for tee 1 (just imagine I'm on the tee) then off to the tee 20 mins before tee off to sort my bag, get my tees, pitch marker, etc. roll a few putts, finish off with holing all three from 4-5 feet, leave myself 5 mins to watch a group tee off...

Then on the tee, boom! OOB...

Cheers Philly,I appreciate the detail, sounds like a good routine(apart from the last bit ;-)!!!

I can imagine there are a number of good stretches to do, I mean the pros use the stretching pole, some interesting videos on YouTube, but I think I may look like a birk doing some of them!!

Il be the first to admit that I should stretch better.. When I used to play footy we'd to a long amount of stretching before a game.. Same principle I suppose - more orientated towards core and upper body though.

Since my neck injury I now HAVE to warm up. This time last year it was, coffee, sausage sarny, quick stretch on the first tee then slice one OB. Now, after the coffee and sausage sarny I'll try and get in the net and hit a dozen 7 irons, stretch out, especially the back, shoulders and neck, swing a couple of clubs back and forth for a minute and then off I go. It might not be a huge amount of warming up but it seems to do the job.

Few stretches, if you are interested in which routine I follow, here is a link...

Then I get a bucket of balls and hit half on the range, full swings with different clubs, then go to our short game area and punch a few wedges and use the rest of the bucket.

Then get a coffee and do 5 mins putting on the way to the first tee. As Homer says its warm up not practice.

Used to get there 1 hour before to do putting, chipping and whacking a few into the nets.

Now, I tend to get there and have a few putts and duff a few chips before going out.

For some reason I tend to start better and gradually get worse :)

Arrive 10 mins late, fag in mouth and boom one up the middle as I've had no time to think about it.another fag on the second tee then tiredness sets in and I watch my round dribble away into the abyss

Cheers lads.Swanny after pulling a muscle last week I am determined not to do the same again! I just had 2 weeks off without a single round, nooooo! Philly I will check out youtube good idea! Greg go on chief, get into the stretching, you know it makes sense!

Thanks for the link Scott, cheers! Comedy gold!

Pretty minimal for me.

May have gone to range for some PW, 7 and 4 iron shot, then a few wedges - but unlikely.

Stretches consist of touching toes (knees very slightly bent) then outside right and left foot then stretch tall. Repeated with knees locked.

Putting over various distances, but last ones are 18 inches or less to feel they'll drop.

On 1st tee: Stretches if not done earlier.
Couple of 120% 'practice' swings with the big stick, then watch out!
