Do you have a warm up routine

Yes warmed up for hockey mainly because you are playing an high intensity sport where you will be sprinting or running and the muscles will need to be warmed

Cricket - depends, will have a little bat and throw a few balls down
So a few stretch’s of the major muscles used in a Golf Swing wouldn’t go a miss would it?

I normally try to arrive about 45 minutes before my tee time. I'd hit some full out lob, or gap wedge shots, about 10 minutes of chipping and a few putts. At my age it helps me loosen up.

So that’s a routine then!

And swinging a stick with a weighted head at anywhere between 60-100+ mph with no warm up is high intensity.👍🏻

Having a swing before each short is more of a PSR as opposed to any set warm up routine

But If people want to warm up then more than welcome too - will be tough for our group when it’s pitch black until about 10 mins before tee time

Time

Can’t be bothered

Don’t want to waste too many good shots

It’s a bit boring

Don’t take it all too seriously

Prob a list of reasons why we don’t bother with warm ups
Time is obviously the biggest one. When you're playing a sport that already takes four hours to play, how much extra time can really be allocated towards warming up? Some days you can but a lot of days you won't be able to.

My warm up is generally minimal as indicated by my first post. This is often due to time pressures.
I do sometimes have more time and do do a warm up.

Having played golf for many years without injury with little or no warm up, I'm not convinced that there is a high risk of injury with this strategy. However if I do take the time to warm up I think on average I am better over the first few holes with a warm up rather than just trying to hit shots straight out of the car.

Getting the speed of the greens and practicing putting before teeing off also helps but I don't think this is really 'warming up'. In the current weather it is probably the opposite.

It depends on what time I get to the club. If I am early then I'll pop to the range and hit a few balls, then I'll chip a bit, I never practise putting.

If I don't have the time, then it's a few swings on the tee.

The former is always more productive than the latter.

Not this morning - a coffee and a breakfast roll were all that I needed and could be bothered with. On days I can be bothered - maybe 16 balls on the range 4 balls x 4 clubs. On the putting green I'll hit a few long putts - not really interested in holing them - just trying to get a feel for weight as I can easy find myself with long putts on the first three holes.

I like to have a swing in the net and a putt/chip but time doesn’t always allow it.

Today was find a parking spot… grab the stuff out the back and run to the 1st hoping the lads had sorted out the cards etc.

Not the best drive to start but it was in play and its a par 5 so I’ll take it.

I like to, but when I was on the yoga .. no need to everything was loose and fluid no injuries or pains post round.
Now though I do, sitting at a desk for 40+ hrs a week and slobbing on the sofa really tightens everything up. I have no ACLs so my calf muscles and hamstrings are tight, which causes lower back pain. So I stretch, I also use the heated car seats .. then I just hit some balls by imagining I am playing the course .. if they are straight I should get to hole 18 drive.

That is the one thing we are lacking. We have a driving range, chipping green, practise bunkers and two putting greens, none of which are anywhere close, but a net near the first tee would make so much difference, however there is just no room there.

Love our practice facilities but yeah, just not feasible at that time in the morning. I might look at it in future as I’ll likely be teeing off abit later but at the same time… will I just see it as I don’t need to get up as early 😉

Lucky to have the time at the moment so 50 balls on the range hitting alternate clubs up to driver with some chipping mixed in
Then maybe 10 minutes putting

Hate having to play without the warm up
