How do you track your stats? during the round or After?

All the top Pros switch off between shots.
All of them.
You can't concentrate on one thing for more than about half an hour before your mind wanders.
Keep that half an hour for when you're actually playing.
Use the time between shots to refresh your mind.

the difference between the top pros and us is they have caddies who are doing the thinking for them along time b4 they reach the ball. we dont have that luxury.the more info we can feed our mind the better decisions we can make! im not saying i dont enjoy a chat between shots,im just saying im thinking about my nxt shot long b4 im standing next to it!

I found some apps I could download on to my mobile phone at the weekend. While they look great, I don't want the hassle of getting my mobile out every hole. That and the fact that someone will probably shout at me for using a phone on course!

With SGX skycaddie your just put your score in and it works everthing you need to know GIR,Farways hit, Puttes per round just plug into laptop when you get back home

I have a Skycaddie 2.5, not really played around with the scoring option, will have a look at it tonight.

might be the answer alright, as I can unclip it and use it while I am walking to the next hole :)

Hi all,

I am going to start analyzing my round stats in a push to get the handicap down again this year.

2 Options I see are
1. Record during play
2. Record the stats after the round

1. Record during play - Could this impact my concentration/score? ie green to next tee messing about with recording stats could mean I have to step up and hit the next tee without having given it enough thought.

Be interested to hear how others do this

Do mine after a round, I am usually the numpty who card marks the entire 4 ball or if its a comp keeping the card tidy to sign, countersign and hand in.

I find it fairly easy to mentally review the round and input basic stats into a spreadsheet.

I recorded my driving accuracy, GIR, and puts. Did it at the end of each hole and it also shows how many up and downs you made.

Doing this for some uni coursework but might do it more often throughout the year.

just use a spare card, easy and quick, then use the ping site to log it all in,only done it twice though not playing alot at the moment.

I always put my score in golfshot afterwards, Couldn't be doing with doing it during the round. Not sure why I bother with golfshot though, it just tells me my short game is pony and I already know that.

I know it sounds like work but WRITE IT DOWN and PIN IT UP.
Nothing concentrates the mind like seeing it in front of you.
I have a simple wall planner, with my handicap targets for each month as discussed with my pro.
I then come home enter my competitive round into Howdidido. I also have a Golf Diary. I write down each hole, write a little summary and high light the important stats.
In my instance, poor shots, missed chips etc.I then review and concentrate on these.
Old fashioned writing it down and seeing it in front of you I believe helps concentrate the mind.
