How do other clubs compare to your own

There are basically 5 courses within 20 minutes. But even 20 minutes is too far, so that leaves 2.

One is superbly kept, with lightening fast greens, good facilities but rather dull from a golfing perspective. Also, it's the posh kid in town.

The other is a tree-infested, overgrown wilderness of a course with wildlife to boot. The greens are on all year (so the never get quite as good), the facilities are good and the course is "interesting" to say the least. It has no airs and graces.

Interesting beats snooker table greens. Simples. :)

There are half a dozen or so courses all within 20 minutes or so from my house and TBH I think I have managed to pick the best. Currently ranked 27th in Ireland and I think it will only continue to improve that spot with the changes that are/will be made by Paul McGinley. The other courses are all great courses as well but one is a bit of a "resort" course in so much that it caters for tourists more than the members.

Courses around mine are of the same quality if a little bit worse in areas like the greens. I think it's your own course that feels better because you know it and play it frequently.

I live within spitting distance of Didsbury and cycle along the river banks past the course most days. Although I've never played it I have walked it during local events and think it's a very nice track!

Most important comparative factor at the minute is number of days closed due to weather. There are around 10 courses within 20 minutes of me and the lowest number of closure days (out side of Muckhart) has been 10 days in the last month.
We have had 1 day closed in the last 4 months and it wasn't even the course that was flooded, it was the car park!

All courses have their different strengths etc. I like my course because you cant take too many liberties with shots, if you hit it offline your in trees that are over 100 years old and you cant blast it through them like some places. The greens are very good too which is a must for a course imo.

I played Worsley Mariott on Saturday just gone and enjoyed that change as i could smash the ball around a bit and get away with it as the trees arent as harsh :) I dont think ive played many courses that dont have some sort of feature that i enjoyed.

Sometimes you wonder that you know your better off at your own course.Played a few other local courses lately and trying not to be biased not a patch on mine.
with the huge weather improvement over past few days would say my course has picked up 70%.
Also with the addition lately of a 30 grand greens keeping machine hoping to see the greens pick up more in quality......hence my 4 1 putts yesterday (only my 2nd time ).

Thanks Swanny. Forrester Park does offer some fantastic membership deals to us younger generation.Ive never heard it called boring before though. Been told its a tight course that can be very challenging. Im playing Abridge and Cannons Brook when I get back from Spain, both are meant to be quality courses in Essex. Havnt played Bentley yet.

I would like to play your place Stu, have heard good things about it.

As said the membership at our place cannot be beaten in our area, but the course isn't the most amazing, have heard people call it boring especially out on the open holes. I think it's a good challenge and not an easy course.

Where in Spain are you going?
