How did your golf go this weekend?

April medal, first qualifier of the year, due to my recent shanking habit the plan was not to play any iron longer than a 7.

Was driving well and found 8 fairways, misses being only just off apart from one where it clattered into the trees. Had a nice birdie on the 7th but then hit my poor tee shot on the 8th, hit a good recovery and then forgot the game plan and went for a 6 iron, shanked it and made double! Followed that with double on the 9th for 43 out, one over handicap.
Steady golf on the back 9 saw me needing a par on the par 5 18th for an 82, one under handicap. Played two good shots leaving a straightforward 8 iron in, but pulled it into a horible lie and made double for 84 nett 73, one over handicap. :(

What really annoyed me then was that CSS was 73 so just a bogey down the 18th would have given me a small cut!

put 2 handicap cards in this weekend, +12 and +15 first weekend really playing the course, had some good runs of holes and some absolute mares, including an 8 on the first today :o

Started off excellent ripping the driver, solid with the irons and average with the putter.

Ended up losing the will to live after it took 3hours for 9 holes! Gave up caring how to play on the back half even started putting with my Wedges

Finished the round on a high after 5 & Half hours of slow play torture, when I ripped a driver and 2 hybrid over the water to 8 feet I. / shots on out par 5 finishing hole.

Brilliant. Great golf course, great company and decent feed after. No witch hunts.

Golf doesn't get better.

Not the best!

My first comp since starting playing a month ago. Also my first time off the whites, which made a massive difference as although it was firmer it wasn't carrying a great deal.

My driving was awful and the front 9 I was in trees to the right far too often, ended up with a couple of blobs and 13pts.

Back 9 I decided to start compensating for my ridiculous slice, ended up with a blob, but all day my short game was much better, chipped in and chipped within a couple of feet a couple of times. Also a 110 yard PW left me 3 ft for birdie. Driving was still shocking, but managed 17 pts and a total of 30, for my first time on whites and such poor driving I wasnt too annoyed with (perspective)

Booking a lesson this week, Sort this slice out!

alot better than expected , finished on 40pts .. been playing dirt so hopefuly a decent handicap cut when results posted tonight .. could be lowest handicap ever so far depending on CSS.. either way it was a nice surprise

Through the constant freezing of HDID web pagei finaly got confirmation , new lowest handicap ever of 6.6 happy chuffed chappy ..

Went down to Peebles.. course was in great nick but I played like it was the first time I had swung a club. Couldn't stop slicing my drives.. if I'd sliced them any more, they'd have been heading back to me! For once it was my short game that was saving my score and I was getting pretty close from within 50-100 yards... getting there was the problem though!

Still, despite all the wayward drives, I managed 96 for nett 73 off yellows so +4 overall. Certainly not my best, but I'll take it.

Greens at our course are still a lottery so im not reading too much into my score.....I turned 7 over gross and came home 7 over gross so it was a nett level par for 36 points......I lost 2/3's of my shots through leaving myself too much work on my second putts....I was leaving them 6-8ft short and the ones i was hitting harder over the sand were running 4 or 5 feet past......

I think once the work has finished on the greens i can do some decent damage to my handicap as my swing is getting more consistant by the week.

well done BP.....now go lower !!

Thanks Rick , realy chuffed , was hoping CSS might be bit lower but over the moon none the less ...Hopefuly get down near your handicap mate , thats the plan anyhow but its hard work , well done on Cat 1 .. hopefuly the new bats will drive you lower

Excellent, well done

Hopefully I can get mine moving in the right direction as the season kicks in

Thanks mate , best of luck with your own ,

Couldn't buy a putt. Irons went from awesome to awful in the space of 2 holes. The RSPCA want to question one of my playing partners and our host got told off in the bar for an untucked shirt. Pretty standard really

No golf for me this weekend because I'm trying to shake off a slight wrist sprain that I haven't allowed to heal because I've been playing too much golf. Got some decent putting practice in.

Cut .3 last week, buffer this week. Playing some of the craziest golf of my life. Example 1/...massive hook, 238 to the front of the green into the wind, flush three wood into greenside bunker, out the bunker sink the putt. 2/...duck hook into the rough, iron on, sink putt. 3/...friday night, royal musselburgh, hit a drive so bad I have 240 to the green from the short rough, flush 3 wood, sink a 40 footer...bang. Today, start with a 5 then fire thirteen 4s on the bounce, spoiled by a 3. Mad.

Saturday - hit the ball really well tee to green but a stone cold putter saw a frustrating day.
Sunday - 37pts @ Slaley in the GM northeast meet, inc two blobs and a 1pointer.

Frustratingly, 10 over after 9, missed a shortish par putt on 10 and spat the dummy for an n/r, decided to carry on in any event and finished 10 over, so will get .1 back when quite possibly would have got a 0.2 cut. SILLY BOY :o

I had a really hard time of it this weekend in our first Medal of the season. Hitting a 3 wood instead of the Driver saw me hit 9 Fairways straight and long. This left me with ideal second shots on most holes, where I struggled though was anything off the deck. I literally couldn't hit the ball off the floor. Onced I thinned, sliced and topped my way to the greens I was fine with just a single three putt. This episode left me with a shocking 103 and only one par on the day.

I'm blaming the bad back that I acquired in the Gym on Wednesday stopping me from rotating the body and causing me to swing with the arms more. As I sit writing this a full 5 days after hitting the Gym I'm still feeling tight and slighty sore. I'm sure I'll be back down to a decent score next Sunday. What really upset me is that in appalling conditions last weekend I hit 37 points and played a really solid round. So to go into this weekend and to play 8 over my handicap is real frustrating.
