propose that is, did you go down on the knee ,or were you proposed to by your better half?
myself i did the knee bit ,but only she was witness to it,i wouldnt have done it in public so to speak.

I help up a cheesy 'will you marry me?' board at Gatwick arrivals when picking up the current mrs R from her holiday.

Edit: had she have said no, i had 3 separate offers. OK, the women were in their 60's and 70's, but hey, i wouldnt have left there alone!

In private, on a balcony on holiday ovelooking the sea. I didn't go down on one knee, in fact I got her to sit on my knee. She wasn't expecting the proposal although I knew I was going to do it weeks in advance.

Very bold to propose in public. It could be a car crash if they say no.

Being the romantic I am... Whilst out one evening watching stock car racing I sort of asked would she be interested if I got around to poppin' the question... The reply was along the lines of... Good time to ask as I think I am carrying your child so I believe yes would be my answer...

Anyway we got confirmation from the Doc a few days later and we've been happily wed for 40 years...

I got told we were getting married. Quote, "you're the next man I'm going to marry." Sounds like she's working through a list.

To be honest.....neither of us really know ?

We got engaged [do folk still do that] and then we got married.
I do not think there was any formal asking, apart from our parents blessing, neither sets seemed delighted.;)

Wife had been dropping several large hints (ie bringing home photocopied pictures of rings that she liked off the jewellers website), so went off-list and bought one that I thought was nice and was close to her (many) pictures. Wasn't sure how to do it but she was poorly one day, so presented it to her to make her feel better - not romantic in the slightest unfortunately. Luckily she wasn't sick on the ring, as sure that would be a bad omen

After 3 years of winching i got down on my knee and proposed. She said yes and said i knew u were going to and told girl in hand made ring shop to steer me to the correct ring. She ended up with two rings. Just making sure

MrsP knew it was coming. She didn't want a scene. Fair enough. We went for a meal. They sat us in a cramped corner with the other couples. Couldn't propose there. Then we went to the theatre. Was told under no circumstances to try anything there. Walked home and stopped in the park. Too public there. In the end went on one knee in my lounge over a cup of tea. She said yes. And I got the ring right which was a relief.

The really amusing part to it all was phoning her Dad to ask permission a few days prior and he just burst out laughing. Eventually he composed himself enough to apologise. He'd just put down the phone from his other daughter with the news he was a grandad. Hence the unbridled joy. A little off-putting for me who found him rather intimidating at the time.

Told Missis T I would propose to her on the top of a mountain. We were coming back from an MG meeting at Woburn and there were no Mountains at Watford Gap services so I told Missis T to have a walk with me to sit at the top of a banking overlooking the M1 so I could propose to me. She told me there was no chance. So I proposed to her outside the red phone box at Watford service station.

I did it on the London Eye. No one on our pod noticed as they were all looking out but loads in the pod below saw. They were all waving and smiling up at us. I knew she was going to say yes as she had pointed out rings to me.

In Cyprus staying at a mates Villa.

However, In March 2003 when I was on the TV program WWTBAM I told the researcher that if I got into the seat that I pop the question.
