How big is the game of golf in your workplace?

Are you an out and out solo golfer or could you muster a mega team?

Last count at my place of work there are 6 golfers who play on a regular basis plus around 4 who have a knock occasionally.
As you can imagine, the subject of golf is a popular topic of discussion.

out of a workforce of about 30 there are 12 into golf.
We have wee get togethers and thats when all the lie's come out.

Why do people feel the need to say they done this or that on the course when there are no witnesses then the same story tellers play and start the day off with my back is killing me today, just don't see the point.

6/150......or thereabouts.

Luckily, in my self-employed mode, this rises to about 50%.

Therefore, I don't play with work colleagues, but do play with professional mates.

There are a few golfers where I work, including the big boss. So we include him in games and its easier to get the time off ( we work flexible hours so not skiving, but its harder for our immediate manager to say no!!)

We've also got 1 golf widow and 1 womon whose non-golfing husband works in the golf industry.

Not sure. Working in a hospital I'm sure most of the consultants and senior doctors must play. Not sure about the average staff nurse. Certainly a loner in the HR team.

We have a load in the pub darts team. Some are actually quite good (one guy of 8) and out of a darts squad of 9 at least 6 play regularly.

In my team of elite Security Officers i have only 1 other who is as mad about golf as me, and he is really good too, low handicapper. There are a few of the cleaning staff that are into golf, including the cleaning manager, so we spend alot of time at managers meeting, talkin about equipment. we also get the odd game in now and then when he gets an early dart.

Are there any consultants in your darts team, Homer? Probably not. I doubt they've thrown a dart in their lives. Here in Spain golf has a bad reputation and is considered a game (not a sport) for old farts, rich b******s and poofs. Fortunately, things are changing and they're moving in the right direction.

Out of the 30 staff in my office, only 2 others are men so the odds were not good for golfing conversation (Ali B no offence here just statistical fact). Sadly none of the men play golf either so am a loner in my office.

Around 900 odd at my place, so how many play overall I can't say. We have a golf society but that only has about 30 members, some retired. I do know of a lot of guys here who play but aren't members.
Last season we had a French guy as a member but he's gone back, whether we get any of the others or the Italians time will tell.
Those who don't play at all just have to suffer.

We regularly get 60 out for our work society for the 3 main meetings of the year (big building, large bank). Dread to think what it's like there on society days. Oh no - who cares!!!
