Hi,

Planning a 2 day, 1 night golf break in the west Home Counties (Bucks, Beds, Surrey, Herts, Berks etc) in July midweek. Any recommendations welcomed!
Flexible and can be either on site hotel with 2 courses, or the hotel at the day 1 course and play elsewhere on day 2.
Just 2-4 of us and don‘t mind paying for quality, but, are we are mid-handicappers if that makes a difference course wise!

Thanks in advance ??

Woburn if you really dont mind paying for it , plenty of nice places you can stay locally

Could stay and play at the Grove then play somewhere else for the 2nd round depending on which way youre heading, maybe somewhere like Berko if heading north, again not the cheapest

Not sure if Brocket Hall are doing accommodation again yet, that would be a decent option course wise

Have a look at :
Foxhills (Surrey), East Sussex National (Sussex), Princes (Kent), The Grove (Hertfordshire), De Vere Wokefield (Berkshire), Five Lakes (Essex), Old Thorns (Hampshire), Luton Hoo (Beds)

Many thanks for the responses - some recognisable ones in there!
Any stand outs from a value perspective? Surprisingly Woburn have availability, but, not sure which of the courses is the best?

cheers

theyre all good and any ranking would be subjective

for me, Dukes and Duchess are most similar so would try and play the Marquess (which is also a bit wider) and one of the other two (assuming you have the choice, you often dont have at Woburn), ideally Marquess and Dukes imo but others will definitely have a different opinion

I’d recommend Berkhamsted and Ashridge as a double-header - in Hertfordshire. Berkhamsted and Tring will have good apres-golf and lodgings

Yes but it all depends on when they start accepting visitors,
Until then they might be limited to hotels with courses

Hanbury Manor springs to mind
Or if they want to push the boat out, Stoke Park

Thanks for the responses, some great options in there.

Foxhills a contender with it having 2 courses and great looking new facilities.
Wokefield looks a solid and cheap option, though not sure of where for the day 2 round.

Leaning towards a course that has accommodation on site given seem to be plenty in that regard.

Don't know if Woodhall Spa is just outside of your travel area, but a round on both courses and a nights accommodation is a steal at £220. The Hotchkin - especially since the changes - is truly spectacular; world class golf. My favourite inland course in the UK.

If you go to Wokefield, you are close to Calcutt Park, Reading... or North Hants isn't far either.

Wokefield is a conference venue, so a bit odd...the course isn't bad, if in decent condition but not as good as Foxhills

What is your budget? There is quite a range in the other replies, for example it will cost you at least £400 a night to stay at the Grove.
