Holidays 2025

Florence is a wonderful city but I have not been there in winter so I can not say what it is like then.

I take it you want to avoid the obvious winter cities and their Christmas markets etc?

We’ve done Prague and Brussels for the Xmas markets and they have both felt no different to Covent Garden, Hyde park etc etc. Rome after Christmas and for new year was mega, loads to do, plenty of sights etc etc

I did look a Vienna but the weather looked bloody cold!

Doing Latvia first week of December so that will be the Xmas markets ticked off.

Did a day in Florence when we did a Med cruise last year. Was summer time and was rammed with tourists, streets are very narrow so may be similar at new year. Also, not sure if there will be enough to do for 4 days. That said, it is a beautiful place and well worth a visit.

Sounds like I need to Google some attractions to see if I can fill four days.

On the cruise we did Florence and Pisa in one trip but not sure how long it took between the places.

Maybe also see where you can get to on the train from Florence? If another place of interest is only an hour away, or whatever limit you want to use, then that might be good to do on one of the days. I suspect 4 days is stretching it, depends to an extent how much you like museums and galleries 😄, but if you go somewhere else nearby on day 3, that might be a good move. (a quick google suggest Pisa is 45 minutes to an hour away)

All checked in for the Disney cruise at the end of the month

Kids still no idea

Mikey and Minnie mouse are calling tomorrow to announce
Bit of a tip.
Don’t sit the kids on the balcony. 🫣

Oh ah. Saw the Disney ship in port last November. It looked amazing. 👍

To each their own. A cruise is not for me I'm afraid but if the kids love it you're quids in
Done probably five cruises and loved them all. The beauty is that everyone chooses a different way to perfect there holiday. Some folk just want to find the nearest bar in port with free WiFi and get smashed. Us we travel when in port. Some like buffet food we like the restaurants. Same with entertainment.
But the snobbbery of “ oh I have done X number of cruises does grate a bit”.
Having said I do like cruises I also like other forms
Of holidays. 2 weeks in Cape Verde at the moment. 👍

Me and Missis T have done Edinburgh,
Manchester, Cardiff, Berlin and Amsterdam for new year. Everyone was either cold, wet, snow, rain, ice or all five. I said “ sod that am going somewhere warm next year” we did fuertaventura. It was mint. Morocco on 2rd Jan for a week this year and Tunisia for new year this year for £360 a week PP all inc.

They just revealed he didn't sit her on the balcony she lost her footing and fell through a porthole. Well that's not at all concerning

She (apparently) climbed up there and Dad did nothing so not completely blameless. The child was not just innocently walking along and then slipped.

Dad's a hero tbh. Diving from the ship to save her. Could have died himself.

Pisa is not worth visiting other than to say you’ve seen the tower.

I went to Florence about 20 years ago in about November. Absolutely lovely city, the churches are incredible to see.

Agreed, we went there a few years ago, got there about 10am, first ticket to go up the tower was 4pm. After an hour wandering around we were throughly bored! Even the Pizza was meh ☹️

Me and wifey try to do a weekend every 6-8 weeks. Look for cheap flight and that's where we go. Belfast next. One after could be anywhere.

Only ever do a week on 'proper' holiday, Tenerife done and another later in the year, not yet booked.

I do a bike trip with the lads and she does a week with her sisters and we always get a week away with the grandkids.

No real planning to anything we do holiday wise. Often just read/overhear something and investigate options.

Had lots of bitty holidays this year . Did
Marrakesh in January for 3 nights & 2 rounds of golf, weather was great . Nerja in March for a week and it pissed it down every day .Porto in May for 4 nights for my 60th , weather was mixed. Northumberland in June for 4 nights , weather was great . Going to Pembrokeshire for a week in September.

Two weeks in Cornwall starting tomorrow! Clubs tucked into the roof box, plan is to play Bude and Launceston a couple of times also got the telescopic rod in there for a bit of fishing. Now got to find room for the families luggage 😁

Ah Bude, lovely.
Only played there once. It was with my dad in 1970.
Green fee was half-a-crown for dad and one-and-three for me.
12.5p and 6.25p
What will your green fee be?

It gets lairy, drunks, pickpockets. Have a look in the day, the food market is well worth a wander, but at night, it is not for me. There are better parts of Barcelona at that time, imo

I remember the first time we went to Barcelona. The pickpockets weren’t even subtle. Best advice I had there was, if you are carrying a rucksack, make sure it’s on your front, especially on public transport.

We’ve done Estepona for a week so far, got a long weekend in the lakes in a couple of weeks, and then Cavtat in Croatia for a fortnight later in the summer.
