Hole From Hell

Extra medal on Wednesday

2 over standing on the 15th Tee

1/ Driver pushed, lands in fairway bunker and runs up the face
2/ Catches lip of bunker and runs back into a deep foot print
3/ Tried to splash out of bunker but rebounded of the face back and hit my thigh.
4/ Call penalty of ball hitting me
5/ Splash out of bunker
6/ Wedge to green left 20' putt
7/ Lag put to 1'
8 / Tap in put

Damn 8

I would still be dumping them in there now if I hadn't finally flushed one to 6ft. In the end, the hole cost me 7 srixon ad333's. Looking back, its quite clear that it was the wrong club, but at the time it was a complete mental block. I still get ribbed about it.

You know it's funny, playing in America last year there were at lot of holes with water right in front of the green so I took an extra club, I've never hit so many shots so close which is a lesson I've just reminded myself I'd learn from but I haven't - we're stupid sometimes us golfers aren't we :D

Without a doubt. We never seem to learn from our mistakes. I still take the wrong club on certain holes because I firmly believe it's the right one. Even though experience has taught me that I'm wrong.

Even with sky caddy telling me how far it is, ego is on my shoulder talking to golfing brain and usually offers some kind of bribe to make me take a shorter iron than required. Go on - give him the wedge - he'll think he can get there. All that happens is I'll find the trouble short or swing too hard, hit it thin, block it right or find another way to cock it up. Club goes in bag, ego goes off to laugh himself silly and I face a nightmare recovery from nowhere

Far too many to mention! A ten on our 4th par 5 sticks in my mind,

1 5i down to corner of dog leg
2 top into ditch
4 3 hybrid
5 pw into pond
7 sw airmailed green into bush
9 chip on
10 hole putt

My mate hit 14 and his dad hit 13 on the par 5 at our track earlier this month. I won't run you through it, but I reckon 6 went OOB between them. I enjoyed watching.

First medal at my new club last Sunday. Did not start well as had was a couple over my handicap after 2 holes but had steadied the ship on holes 3 and 4. Next hole, par 5 with out of bounds all down the left. First drive was a big hook OOB. Re-loaded and do exactly the same again. Over compensate with my 5th off the tee and am in the trees on the right. I am sensible and chip out for number 6, then hook a 3 wood for seven. I get a bit of luck here in that this bounces off the fence marking OOB and stays in play. I then hit a cracking shot to 4 ft for 8 but the putt lips out and I tap in for 10.

Last week at Kilworth!

1st Duffed the tee shot straight into the water in front of the tee! - Penalty!
3rd Hooked the next tee, but thought I'd be able to find it! Found the ball - in 1/2" of water! Lateral hazard, so a drop and another penalty - bit depressed by now :)
5th - hooked the next into deep rough, 20 yrds off the green - 2 hacks to get out followed by a 4 putt just to make the day great!

Grand total - 11! on a par 4. Poop! Still had a great day tho :fore:

Does anyone else find though that the worst holes from hell tend to be Par 3s?

Maybe it's because with a par 4 or par 5 you think that it's more acceptable to be 'more above par'?

My worse holes are always the par 3s because one bad shot (as in, really bad shot) and you're in huge trouble - I think that unless you're on the green from the tee it's quite easy to wrack up a 5 or 6 on a par 3:

Miss green
Chip on but not close
3 putt
