Forgot....I've also got a Miura Giken MGP-M2 putter lying around doing nothing......its like a beautiful mistress that you keep in the cellar but don't use because you are trying to be faithful to the wife, despite her misbehaving now and again.

I get rid of things. I do have a side saddle putter that I tried last year that just wouldn't work for me......probably taking it in to the pro shop and they eventually sell it through one of the sites.

I had a period when I was a real flipper.

14 sets of irons in a year when searching for a new set when changing from stiff to regular shafts ending up wishing I had kept the first set I tried.

These days a bit of hoarder simply on the basis that the clubs I have got do not reach the price I want for them on ebay and some clubs not worth the bother of selling them.

Cobra F Speed driver 10.5° regular - £25 in 2010
Cobra F Speed driver 9° stiff - £26 in 2022
Cobra F Speed 3-wood - £16 in 2022
Cobra baffler hybrid 16° - £25 in 2010
Cobra baffler hybrid 20° - £14 in 2022
Cobra baffler hybrid 23° - £12 in 2024

Ping G10 3&4 and i10 5-PW with Ping UW 52° bought brand new in 2008 using mainly pro shop credit. I think I had to top up with a cheque to the pro for about £170. But that purchase included Ping G10 driver, 3-wood and hybrid that I disposed of on Ebay last year.
Ben Sayers Opel Line One putter - £25 brand new in 1989.
Ram 64° wedge - £39 brand new some time in the 1990s

In more recent years,
Daiwa Trypower TCS blades 3-PW - £28
Reid Lockhart blades - 3-SW - £85
Ping Eye2 BeCu 3-SW - £40

Lots of other wedges from Ebay for peanuts.

The above is what I play handicap qualifying games with and some social golf like today.

20 full sets of vintage clubs from 1960s, 70s, and early 80s with some extra woods, wedges and putters. Several bags. I blame @Crow for this addiction. :giggle:
These were accumulated over the last 3 and a half years at about net zero cost due to buying and selling similar stuff at profit.

Something like 350 clubs maybe. Definitely a hoarder, but I've been thrifty in the extreme.

1977 to 1992 I had Maxfli International irons 2-SW (I still have the SW)
1992 to 2008 I had Ram Laser Fx irons 1-SW (I kept the 1-iron this time)
2008 to now Ping G10/i10 3-PW and 52°W
Not much of a flipper - quite the opposite whatever that is called.

Flipper, I don't like the temptation to return to old equipment when the new stuff has been fitted or whatever and you need to keep at it rather than go back

Could have kept my old irons as a spare set but what's point when my colleague was looking for irons and got a fair price on them

I’ve sold quite a few things to golfclubs4cash over the last few years.
Moved on from using eBay due to fees but I hear they are less now.

No listing or sales commission fees at all?
How are they making money, from advertising?

No selling fees for private sellers, they still apply to business sellers.
There are possible listing fees for individuals, if you upgrade your listing visibility, or I believe if you choose 1 day listing??.....iirc

I've no idea why they've done this, fees were roughly 13% prior to this, though I only ever listed items when there was 80% off selling fees special offer on.
Now though, list anytime, with no selling fees

It's been a while since I've bothered with eBay. Out of interest, assuming there's still a cut taken from the sale price and the payment, how much do you have to sell something for to clear £100 into your bank account?

As above....
No selling fees

£100 gets you £100

The only other difference they've made is, after a sale, your money stays with them until you ask for it to be withdrawn to your bank.
So effectively you can build up a pot and just use it for future purchases, or just request a withdrawal at any point, it's not automatically sent to you.

Someone told me they were losing out to newer apps such as Vinted etc. You're right though, it does seem like a big step. I only found out after I sold a club recently and got more in my account than I expected!

I normally move stuff on or at least attempt to. But I don’t shift stuff at super low prices I have a value in mind and if that’s not reached I keep it.
I do as others do and keep the initial club that was to be replaced.
I do like to have a travel bag of separate clubs usually a mix of past favourites.
Putters are rarely sold as I like to restore knackered ones .. it’s a bit like whittling wood .. something to do on a summers evening when I am not on course.
Bags are a pain .. I would love to have a new bag every 5 minutes but I generally run them into the ground and use to hold my overstock or they go to the tip if too past it.
I have tried to stop buying, last purchase was a new driver but that was with some winnings and the current driver was 4yrs old .. I will shift that on or offer to the nephew.

For those self confessed hoarders, is there a reason why you keep so many clubs? I understand that a few of the vintage fans will still use most/all their clubs but I agree with @IanM, what is the point of keeping clubs that will only go down in value? Get rid for the best price as soon as possible

Covid caused a surge in prices I released a load of old stock that was worth less than £200 for a princely sum of £800 ..
There will be another day of sunshine.. be ready hoarders!!

I believe all my clubs are going up in value - vintage and 21st century.

Obviously, the Ping G10 and i10 irons that I bought brand new went down in value.
But I'm an avid Ebay browser and I think these bottomed-out some time ago and have increased over the last 18 months when I look at sold prices.
I've been using them for 16 years so maybe I have got my money's worth from them.

I think it is the ridiculous prices of brand new stuff that has stimulated interest in quality irons from 12 to 20 years ago that can do the same job.
A whole set from 3-SW for about the price of one new club is worth considering.

The point I would like to emphasise, unapologetically and smugly, is that I have a huge hoard, but everything is going up in value.

But your point about selling is entirely valid - for those who are always chasing those perfect newish and brand new clubs.
Minimising losses.
But losses they are.
