Formby for me. Better all round design, better to look at and more enjoyable to play imo.

Formby.

I love Hillside, and it's back 9 is as good as anywhere I've ever played. But love that Formby gives you something different throughout the round. Few tress, some great links holes and a lovely old club house.

Hillside for me and it's not even close. Hillside or Birkdale is a tougher call. Birkdale probably but I'm not certain.

Formby. No doubt in my mind. Played both in the height of Summer and 18 holes vs 18 holes of golf Formby is better.

Both lovely tracks. I do fancy another go at formby in the near future. I have unfinished business on both courses though. Both kicked my game around the place.

have gone for Hillside which is argueably my favourite course of the ones I have played, Formby is also a great course but it really killed me, even from the Red tees the yardages are just so long.

Loved them both, but Hillside for me.

The last few holes of Formby were slightly ho-hum whereas all of Hillside was great!

Formby was also memorable for the pheasants that squawked so often at the top of my backswing that it was almost as bad when they didn't!

Formby for me, and not because Hillside spanked me on the day, I found Formby more aesthetically pleasing, almost unique in its appearance and offering something different when standing on each tee, a hybrid of excellent course all rolled into one

Formby for me is very easy on the eye, but I think that 1,2 and 18 aren't fantastic. Formbys clubhouse and setting evokes more grandeur, though.

However, Hillside as a course after the 1st has no weak holes, and also has more elevation changes, which I prefer.

I also find Hillside the tougher course.

There is no right/wrong answer but I was interested to find out people's thoughts after an exchange of views with a fellow forummer who said, and I quote "Formby makes Hillside look like a muni imo".

I wont name him, as he is very cool, but he can swear a lot, especially when on a goat track.

^This exactly. No weak holes on Formby for me. Hillside is beautiful to look at but doesn't have the X Factor that Formby has.
