Henrik Stenson

Great player though. As far as achievements she'd the Monty of the Ladies tour.

Not hardly, she's won four majors

I think Eight Order of merits count for more than a few mere majors. Eight order of merits mean lots of wins & consistent finishes through the season. Most of those order of merits earned in consecutive seasons.

A major is simply just another tournament, albeit a well paid one.

Anyway, I was refering her stature within the tour, as the elder statesman/person/woman. She's the captaincy material her tour needed & Monty is the captaincy that the European tour need for the next Ryder cup.

Isn't it odd that most suposed majors are in the USA, when only one takes place in the British Isles where golf originated. Also with golf suposedly being a game including many nations that the USPGA seems to think it has the manopoly to call certain tournaments that only happen on their own shores majors & ignore or effectively dismiss tournaments across the globe.

Think about Dubai for instance. The Europens new replacement for the order of merit is the race to Dubai

Dubai desert classic
Volvo China Open
The Irish open
The European Open
The Celtic manor Wales Open
Open De France
The KLM Open
Johnny Walker Gleneagles
British Masters
Alfred Dunnhill Links
Portugal Masters
Dubai Word championship

Each countries main Open is as important as any other.

There are many courses around the world deseve the sort of recognition of a test of skill that warrent being called a major...

And why isn't Lock Lomand a Major if the US masters is a Major..? Why, because the USPGA is so insular it cannot recognise that there are events & courses outside the USofA worthy of recognition.

So what is a Major, its simply another tournament, another tournament in the championship to be the best golfer in a tour in that season.
