Help!!

Points to note:
No everywhere in England is like St Mary Mead.
Not everywhere in Scotland is like Brigadoon.
Not everywhere in Ireland is like Inisfree.
Many pubs in the UK are on their uppers and more people have lost their life savings following their dreams of opening a pub in a village than I would care to imagine.
Many seaside resorts are run down and seedy.
The UK was at the centre of the Industrial Revolution and many of the towns still reflect that.
(My own home town of Widnes once had the dubious distinction of being called the dirtiest town in England).

But
There are still beautiful parts of the country.
People (generally) are friendly, especially in the quieter parts.
You don't have to drive too far to get to a really nice part of the countryside.
We have some fantastic historic buildings.

Other than that it's great! :)

Dont take too much notice of what you read on here, the vast majority of the country is beautiful. This forum is made up of fairly well off middle class people who have never been hard up but have a social concience that makes them want to commiserate with the working class. Comments that 50% of children live in poverty are silly as poverty is relative to what you want it to be, for many it's not having more than two foreign holidays a year, a TV in each room, the latest iPhone and two cars over 4 years old.
Brits are renown for complaining about their lot so dont take too much notice, the biggest problem we seem to have at the moment is that a bloke drove his car to another town.
