Graphite shafts/paint are far more robust than they were years ago.

I use standard headcovers and don't have any noticeable damage or chipping. That'll do for me.

Re the headcovers posted in the OP, if your mate likes them who cares what anyone else says or thinks. I personally like people that try and add a bit of fun into the game.

what glue did you use?
I normally put a wrap of celotape around the affected area.

A rubber adhesive many white goods manufacturers use to seal hoses and seals onto the drums.
It spreads very thinly and holds straight away.
Just don’t breath too much in for too long;j
