Happy St Georges Day

Sadly our NHS trust like many others won't be recognising it. I am still proud to be English and wearing my cross of St George badge on my fleece (just not on trust property!!)
i was asked by a customer to remove my badge this morning when i went to inspect the £2k free boiler they had just had fitted in the rent free housing association house,to be honest it was the translator who told me before they asked for the instructions for the system to be supplied in Urdu and could the control system also be in Urdu,i smiled and said no in a polite way before leaving, office phoned me soon after saying i had been agresive towards them and to go back and apologise,no chance, written warning time me thinks.

Shocking!

Fly your flag and wear it proudly......just remember that that red cross looks better with a blue saltire alongside it. ;)

As a 'Trading Nation' it seems appropriate to celebrate the National day with 'foreign' stuff.

A Pimms with Salmon (?) and Cucumber sandwiches, while watching Cricket - in a dick-chair (sic) with knotted hanky on head of course. Followed by (imported) Strawberries and Cream. Plenty of Elgar and Williams in the lugs and a walk through what's left of the daffodils. Warm beer before Roast Beef (and a decent Claret of course) Supper followed by Apple Crumble and Custard. A week's worth of calories and 'treats' in a day!

Not a supporter of the death penalty, but if the PC idiot who 'banned' the flying of St George Cross was dragged to Smithfield, Hung, Drawn and Quartered, then fed to the Hounds, I wouldn't protest!

Got an email from a patriotic mate this morning (though a German car fan, so sensible as well) with a couple of quotes...

Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson (Giving advice to a new recruit on how to survive in the Royal Navy)

"First, you must implicitly obey orders…
Secondly, you must consider every man as your enemy who speaks ill of your King...
Thirdly, you must hate a Frenchman as you do the devil".

Happy SGD!

If I actually liked either of them, I'd have a pint of Bombardier or Spitfire!

Wot! No Morris Dancing?

Sorry to hear that but I'm not surprised. Country is going to the dogs. I'm never going to say England for the English as many of my friends at work are from any number of nations but there is something wrong when we are prevented from celebrating our national saints day. Can you see the US lying down and taking it from their immigrants?

Sorry, am I missing something?

There seems to be genuine occasions where displaying the George Cross is not allowed, or am I mistaken?Hints about not being allowed to wear it in various situations on this thread and I'm a wee bit confused.

omg.

I'm seriously lost for words.I can't think of any situation where that would happen in any other country that comes to mind, excluding the lies of the current situation in Ukraine.

Does the george cross have such an ingrained part of the far right that its now pretty much accepted as being racist?

Whoever stops anyone flying their flag is verging on being a facist themselves, and you know what, maybe a indy Scotland could start the process of those proud of being English reclaiming their national identity as English.

The St Georges Cross was very much in the forefront of the crusades and the murder of millions muslims over in the holy lands

That part of our history is used to justify the banning of it

Thing is, the red cross wasn't actually associated with St George to begin with, it was the Templars it was more readily associated with at the beginning of the crusades.

Obviously it is now associated with both St George and the crusades, but how the hell you can be banned from flying it beggars belief.
