Happy St Georges Day

Cross of St George flying out the front of our house, because it will particularly irritate the bloke two doors up and will be wearing a cap with a small COSG on the back during the mid week medal today :)

Yes. Happy St George's Day and three cheers for England, the English and everything we traditionally represent. All together now.........

"And did those feet, in ancient times, walk upon England's mountains green... Etc.....etc...."

I love England.

We had a very English breakfast this morning of bacon and mushroom toasted muffins and the children were treated to some rousing classically English music at full tilt too: Enigma Variations, Jerusalem, I Vow To The My Country, Land Of Hope & Glory and Lark Ascending.

Fantastic stuff!

PS - my daughter did ask if we could change to Taylor Swift several times! :)

I'll go and watch the St Georges day parade in town on Sunday, my sons scout group are leading it this year I think.

With St George in my heart.

Just a shame today isn't made more of like other national days. And not being allowed to display your own flag is a joke!

Happy St George day to y'all.

Enjoy your day if you're celebrating it. Do you have a national dish and drink to partake of, like us Jocks do?

Chablis, eh? I was thinking a nice curry with some Carlsberg, but Chablis works for me. :)

It is indeed.I often wonder why England, and to a lesser extent Scotland have some kind of paranoia about their own flag and why our national saint day ins't celebrated as much as others.

Use Catalonia as an example, I bet they're doing much more today than England?

Anyway, hope all my english mates and family enjoy their day.

Happy St.Georges day.

As a 'Trading Nation' it seems appropriate to celebrate the National day with 'foreign' stuff.

A Pimms with Salmon (?) and Cucumber sandwiches, while watching Cricket - in a dick-chair (sic) with knotted hanky on head of course. Followed by (imported) Strawberries and Cream. Plenty of Elgar and Williams in the lugs and a walk through what's left of the daffodils. Warm beer before Roast Beef (and a decent Claret of course) Supper followed by Apple Crumble and Custard. A week's worth of calories and 'treats' in a day!

Not a supporter of the death penalty, but if the PC idiot who 'banned' the flying of St George Cross was dragged to Smithfield, Hung, Drawn and Quartered, then fed to the Hounds, I wouldn't protest!

Got an email from a patriotic mate this morning (though a German car fan, so sensible as well) with a couple of quotes...

Lord Admiral Horatio Nelson (Giving advice to a new recruit on how to survive in the Royal Navy)

"First, you must implicitly obey orders…
Secondly, you must consider every man as your enemy who speaks ill of your King...
Thirdly, you must hate a Frenchman as you do the devil".

Happy SGD!

If I actually liked either of them, I'd have a pint of Bombardier or Spitfire!
