At the suggestion of someone I started this after asking a question in another thread.

When I used to play regularly over 30! years ago, Stablefords were always off 3/4 handicap, these days from what I have seen they appear to be off full handicap, Is this the norn these days.

My last club had a 3/4 limit in Stableford comps, new club is full handicap,no prize's for guessing that the low handicappers never win anything in Stableford comps.

We always have full handicap in singles events and to prevent the above problem, we always have 2 divisions when there are enough (usually over 20) entrant. Divisions are usually up to 12 in Div 1 and those above 12 in Div 2.

The same at my club, but prize's are awarded "overall" so winning your division sometimes means you don't make the prize's.

Always off full in a singles event like the monthy stableford, captains day etc. Three quartes for a better ball like I played in today. Not keen playing off 10 so maybe single figures isn't all its cracked up to be

We do the prizes per division. Number of prizes depends on the number of entrants per division. The formula we use is, up to 12 players, 1 prize. We then add a prize for each 8 players, so 13-20 players = 2 prizes, 21-28 = 3 prizes etc.

Handicap is a Stableford measure, so Stableford comps should be full handicap.

Not certain how it worked in the 'old days' for men, but some time ago Ladies Handicaps were not Stableford Adjusted - and many Ladies matches were off 3/4 'cap.

BTW. Read the link in my Sig for details about why Full Handicap should be used in Matches.

Comps in Divisions does remove some gripes about Exceptional Scores though.
