Since shooting a 66 off 11 handicap my form has been s!it
at best after today I have had 7 0.1 on the trot.
if I put 3 cards in I bet I would be anywhere from 18-22 handicap.so should I expect some shots back after a review?
thanks.

If you had have 7 consecutive 0.1s then you should be flagged up in the continuous review report, which ought to mean you get a shot back.

Wouldn't automatically give a shot back - for me a loss of form shouldn't mean giving shots back , th is 7 .1's is more for looking at people who's HC is on the way up due to injury or age and the system doesn't go quick enough

Seen enough people have 7 or more .1 back then suddenly to bang in a great round

how would you treat me phil, had acl injury last yr, since back last 5 rounds have been 0.1 back then fractured ankle. If next 2 cards are 0.1 back what would you do?

Certainly look to increase the HC but it would be monitored to see how you get on as you recover from injury

I have now had 10 x 0.1's in successive qualifying comps - managed a 0.2 cut immediately before that but did shoot 37 pts in an individual NQ off yellow tees in the middle of the 10 which is recorded as a score.

Joined the club in April and not got to grips with the course or settled and relaxed in comp rounds yet.

Assume I am on the radar, but am I likely to get a 1 shot increase without checking with me first ?

Do not want a 1 shot increase as been playing woefully below my normal level and carrying an injury of late that they would be unaware of - now taken 3 weeks off and expect to resume next week which should help me.

Am I right in thinking you can play as low hc as you wish, just not any higher?

simple answer for those that don't want it, is to accept the shot in theory but not play off it

ok, if you're playing an away course , but your home course computer system will deduct you correct h/c.

Since I introduced the continuous handicap review report which is run monthly I've given an increase to just one player.

16 consecutive 0.1s !

Only about 5 others feature on the report including me😬, that have 7 or 8. I'm not going to give them a CRI anytime soon. Just a dip in form and lack of playing time for most but will continue to monitor them.

7 consecutive 0.1s will add the player to the continuous review report. Then, that person is entitled to a +1 increase, which I would offer them. They are under no obligation to accept.

Being flagged doesn't give any entitlements for HC increase

It allows a HC committee to review a person HC

Also any HC increase the same with decrease can be appealed as opposed to not accepted

Here is a guideline from EGU

I think you are wrong on both counts.

The person is not entitled to an increase - the Handicap Committee may apply an increase but it is not automatic

Handicap Committees do not offer increases - they either apply them or don't.

You do appear on the report still
This report is designed to show any players who are consistently returning poor scores, and may be eligible for an increase in handicap. The report will only use scores after the 1st of January 2016, from qualifying rounds. Getting into buffer, or a reduction will immediately reset the count, so only those with consecutive handicap increases (or being outside buffer in a reduction only event) will be shown.

So it confirms if you go "up" you still show in the report- only a buffer or a cut removes you from the report

From our last continuous review there were about 60 players on the list. From a cursory review of scores only 17 were given a full review and only 8 got a handicap increase.

I would concur with the view that you either increase/decrease a handicap, you do not ask a player if they want the change.

The new system is supposed to help get rid of 'peacock' handicaps.
