Handicap of a "good" player

Just ask yourself one question..........

Do you have your name on the front of your bag?**

No?? Then you (we) are total gash.

**Trilby Tour bags don't count!!! ;) :)

In my opinion single figures reflects a good golfer. They can hold their own in anybody's company and should be able to handle any course they play.

Handicap 3 to Scratch is another level, and anyone + plays a different game altogether.

I'm sticking to my original 4 h/cap for someone to be a good golfer.... all the rest are OK golfers. I'm an OK golfer myself (before anyone whinges about my opinion). To an outsider I'm sure an 18 h/capper looks bloody brilliant!

what's your handicap? and why not 5 (Are they not good?). And then why not 3 rather than 4 - becaase I can't tell the difference in the play of a 3 and a 4 handicapper (on a shot by shot, hole by hole, round by round basis).

When you get to this level of granularity in differentiating between players then applying subjective terms such as good or OK becomes rather irrevant IMO.
