From the BBC website, it seems the local seagulls have been having a bit of a party.

Gulls Night Out

Out on the quay side on Sunday, saw a gull pecking away at a dropped kebab quite happily, then I only think it got a hot bit of chili, as it started to shake its head and wander off, then I watched as it flew onto the river and was seen taking several large beak fulls of water.

That's quite funny.
Lots of people dislike seagulls but not me.
Born in a seaside town hearing them just reminds me of the great summers I had as a kid.

There is a You Tube video of some blokes in the US lacing food with strong laxative and throwing down for the gulls to eat, sure enough a short while later it's raining seagull poop.

I worked in Park Royal, which is as about as far away from the sea you can get in this country, and the area was 'polluted' with Gulls... Was told it was because there was a dump there in Victorian times and once they [Gulls] inhabit an area they don't leave...

I believe Gloucester has the largest Gull population in the UK and it's not really on the coast. Gulls have evolved to live off human garbage rather than hunt fish in the sea, maybe that's due to their being less fish in the sea as well.
