Hi all,
My best mate and I played in our clubs greensomes competition yesterday. We have been friends forever and are very close and know everything about one another. We found this a huge advantage and really interesting.
Dave is a 23 hc and I am 19 and we played off 16 for this comp. I think it was 2/3 of total?! We were playing against a 3 and 19 pairing so they were off 8. I have never seen such an uncomfortable 3 hc in my life.
To cut a long story short after 6 holes (we were level par)there 19 hc came up to me and said "have you just got your handicap cos you are WAY better than 19" I just thanked him and explained that I had got .1 this week and that Dave was flattering me".
Dave and I were stunned how things kept falling our way, we felt we did not make a bad call for 16 holes, infact I don't think we made a bad call all day. It was a true partnership of Daves steady pay and my go at it play. Interesting how many times we took Daves shorter but straighter drive... A 2nd serve is clearly a bonus. They say driving for show putting for dough(Dow?) but I am not so sure it's as black and white as that.
We finished blob blob for 36 points and our only bad holes of the day, a great shame but if we had kept the energy up we would have been 40 points and I think 42 won it.
Best fun I have had in ages. Next team comp next week, best stableford score of the 2 of us per hole, not sure what it's called, I just want to beat fundy's team!!
