GPS watches

I bought a Garmin S3 last year and have not been disappointed.
So discreet and convenient. Most of the time front/middle/back is sufficient but the green view and lay up yardages are very useful on the par 5's when I know I'm going to be getting the wedges out.
Used it home and abroad and never been let down yet. Battery wise, looking at about 27 holes. I also like the shot measure feature when I think I've smashed a driver a long way and can simply check!
You can also plot your own hazards(and label them) which is great for your home course as you'll go round that time and time again. I have only recently used this and plotted a pond which we have to clear on a par 5 2nd shot. It does make a difference as I have been going for it much more now I KNOW what the carry is.
Recommended.

I've got the Snooper Shotsaver SG255X and love it. Front middle and back, all hazards, par, scoring, SI, distance walked, time taken, etc. Only thing it doesn't easily do is marking positions for individual shot distances. 30,000 courses on board and no subscription fees for just over £100. The only problem I can see is that it does such a lot that learning how to use it to it's full capability can take a bit of effort.

It also has a Run facility if you're into jogging (and can link to a HRM)

FCs with Garmin S3's come to me for hazard distances and their touchscreen Pin positioning facility is just not worth the hassle for our abilities.

Decent battery life too.

all this contributes to slow(er) play imo

not at all. I have a G6 approach , it hangs on the side of the bag and take s 2nd to look at the screen.

Slow golfers are just that, slow golfers and cant seem to help themselves.

And I should have said that you can do all of this stuff, but you don't have to - I just use Front, Middle, Back and Hazard distances - which I expect speeds up play ;)

but you did say you mark individual shot distances and you love it for scoring, distance walked yaddy yaddy ya and FC's coming to you for hazard distances!

like I say, it can contribute to slow(er) play:rolleyes:

I must admit that a GPS watch does intrigue me, I'm so new to the game though that I don't think it'll help much now.

I'm holding out for the Apple Watch in the hopes that Garmin or someone will write an App for it too.

I just bought a Bushnell Neo XS. Will post a review once I've had the chance to use it for a couple of rounds. Pretty excited in all honesty!
