My favourite destination is Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.
I have been a number of times and always arranged it myself (or at least booked flights/accomodation and golf seperately).
I would definitely keep the golf booking seperate, In my experience there have been good deals booking flights and accomodation together and then organising the golf yourself.
Very good golf deals can be had at very short notice (ie within 24 hours) and there is dedicated golf desks in the big golf shops out there offering some really good deals.
When I played the Eden course Gordon, I mentioned that I knew Merv but didn't get any discount.I also go to Myrtle Beach and the best thing is, Merv goes in April then comes back and tells me all the best courses to play when I go in October![]()

Ok.... I guess go to scandinavia for golf vacation isnt the first choice and not the second either ...-, We prefer to spend golf vacation in UK and to play linksgolf,,,,greenfee is rather expensive though...
We have played links only in England and Ireland,,,we try to choose courses where greenfee isnt so high, we also try to dÃscuss with clubs if discount is possible if playing more then one time at there course.. and so far discounts have been given... last trip we played 7 times with greenfees and that take a rather large share of the travelling budget....Where in the UK do you play and what kind of green fee do you pay.
I've played in Barbados, Tenerife and Gran Canaria but never on golf holiday, just regular holidays where I've taken my clubs along.
I'd love to a golf holiday. I've heard a lot of good stuff about Belek in Turkey. Id go anywhere though if I could get a group of mates up for it.
Another vote here for Belek. Haven't done a 100% golf trip but took HID and the little 'un for past 3 years. I get plenty of golf in though. Booked for 2014 the day after we returned thus year. Next year my golfing buddy is bringing his family at the same time. Everyone's a winner:clap:I've played nearly all the courses in belek, fabulous place if your looking for golf, luxury hotels, relaxation, good weather and a few beers, if your looking for rowdy nightlife, like villamoura/costa del sol then Turkey isn't for you.
I've also played in myrtle beach and it was great but personally I don't see what it has over Spain/Portugal/turkey. And it's a LONG flight!

I think MB offers great value for money compared to places like Spain and Portugal where green fees can be very expensive. You can go for two weeks peak season and play 9 or 10 rounds of golf on great courses for less than £2k per person which includes flights, hotel, hire car and green fees. A lot of the courses offer deals that include food and drinks so you don't need to spend a lot of extra cash when you get there. I think something similar in Spain/Portugal would probably cost you more.
