Golf this weekend

Normal 18 holes for me today, 32 points when not playing well and my recent solid drives have changed into big fade/slice so quite happy to limp in with what I had! Still plenty of work to be done.

On the us side our new head gk has got the course in decent shape considering the weather. The course has dried reLly well with the good weather this week. All the greens and tee boxes have had their scheduled work done. Should be in smashing shape come the summer.

Roll up qualifier tomorrow, that's if I can get my new leather grips can be taken off and put on properly as I made a botch of it, then Fulford Monday.

We played our first comp of the year on Friday, which was also my first full 18 holes since the end of October I think.
Playing preferred lies through the green , I played and scored better than I expected, short but straight and sweet. So here I come " Scotland KoKs " .

Medal today, short game lesson tomorrow  After thinking I had cured my chipping issues I found myself standing on the 13th tee having made 8 pars in the first 12 holes, but 9 over par. The 4 holes I didn't par I had 3 doubles and a treble thanks to what can only be described as an embarrassing display of chipping. I ended up shooting 84 having added a further double after taking 5 to get down from 56yds on the 15th :o

Had a fun game with Alex1975 and a friend of mine today, just snuck it round in the 70s but lost to Alex up the last. Amazing the difference a week makes to the weather and course conditions

Playind in our Sat roll up yesterday morning. we usually play best 2 scores from the 4 ball and a little game of betterball between the fourballs, but only 6 turned up yesterday as it was very windy. So played ind stableford off bare feet. I shot 36 points with two blobs but the winner had 39.

Back on full course next Friday, looking forward to getting back on the championship tee's, the winter course is far too short.

Mixed feelings with today's round, went out solo at 2:36, deliberately booked so that there was 40 mins between me and the last 3 ball, with another solo golfer 20 mns before me on the tee.

The solo golfer disappeared after 6 holes and I walked in after 13, having played 2 balls for most of em (it was 5:10pm)! That said I seemed to have changed my swing a little and managed only to slice 1 ball off the tee (counting no chickens just yet!) and likewise I hit some smashing irons. I appear to have sussed out how to turn my right hip through better thats allowing me to attack the ball and really go through it.

On top of that the course was fully open, tees back and no temp holes so I'll be looking to arrange the first round with the pro, toward my 3 cards to get my handicap. Onwards and upwards!

Monthly medal today. Started with a quadruple but things got marginally better. Only the third full round of the year and trying to bed in the final piece of the lesson jigsaw. Some good shots but chucked a "Stenson" off the tee on the short par three 8th which didn't help. Some modicum of success with the linear chipping. Onwards and upwards or should that be downwards handicap wise

Member/Guest day with Richart at my place today. 3/4 handicap betterball stableford. 1st prize was 3 days and golf in Quinta do Lago staying at the 6 star Conrad hotel........we didn't win....:( ...........but we had a great time with great company. Always a pleasure to play with Richart and today was no exception.
It was pretty breezy and the greens were.....well let's just call them quick! :o didn't help that I have just been diagnosed with tendonitis of the shoulder and was supposed to be resting it instead of playing golf........hurts a bit at the moment...:(
Really enjoyed it Rick, just a shame I seemed to lose my game down one of those country lanes I got lost on.:o I like your new smoooooooth swing, though I hope you were on more power today.

Centurion is a superb course, and can't wait to play it again. Great views off the tee, so you can see where you need to go, but the greens were a tad nippy for this time of the year. The winning score of 40 points four ball better ball, 3/4 handicap shows how hard it was.

Thanks again for the invite my old mate, and see you Wednesday.

Wasn't expecting a game this wknd but managed to find some time to sneak in a round on a local 9 holer yesterday :whoo:

Course has held up better than I was expecting. There was 1 temp green which made a short par 4 even shorter, yet I still managed to take 5 on this (even with one of those big daft winter cups).

Went round in 39 blows (par 36) so pretty happy with that. Putting was surprisingly decent for a change, and I managed to win it on the last to take my buddy's cash which always helps .

Good to be back out playing again, and looking forward to getting a run of games together now , hopefully

Played Lyhtam Green Drive for the first time ahead of my menbership interveiw ion thursday...

I played ok, drove the ball really well and then the first difference I noted was the smallish greens well protected by bunkers....

Short game practice required....

They had just airiated (?) the greens and because they were soft, made putting like crazy golf. I swear one of mine actually hopped over the hole....

Overall I really like the course and am looking forward to the summer conditions. I was bit disturbed after Louise said it was easy and I struggled to break 100 (40 puts not helping)..

Roll on Thursday and the weekend....

Pro Am today at Brocket Hall with our Pro from the Centurion and 2 other members.
Beautiful day for it.
Playing the Palmerston which is my favourite.

Played at Wimereux yesterday, in beautiful sunshine but with a good 3 club "breeze" coming off the channel - needed a 3 wood to reach the par 3's into the wind..... Not a bad course, very flat and open, greens were lovely, bunkers were scabby, full of water and green algae..... Never played there before, and coupled with the wind, was quite happy to shoot one over handicap. Nowhere near as nice as Belle Dune just down the road, but, a perfectly playable course for 45 euros.... and the frites from the halfway house were some of the best I've had. All in all enjoyed the round.

Oops, sorry about that comment Jack, should have said easier, compared with the other Fylde courses have played, Sure you will do fine there.

Ps are you doing the AVFTT thing this year.

Two winter league matches one Sat one Sun we won them both which meant we have won our division with a game to spare. Money in the bank :)
