Can anyone point me in the direction of an insurer who will cover golf subs being reimbursed if you are no longer able to play golf due to illness, accident or death.

A quick search shows Golf Care only cover it if you have an accident on the golf course. Looks to be the same for England Golf's add on as well.

Have you spoken to your club @chellie? I have had a couple of periods away from golf following surgery and my club has always happily suspended my monthly direct debit until I am playing again.

Ours are non refundable. Also an extra cost now if you want to pay by direct debit. Touch wood we don't need it but given how much it is now a year for the two of us I want cover. They also tell us to obtain cover but can't say where from

I guess costs of this type of insurance for over 70 year olds are going to be prohibitively high so no point in offering it. A bit like life insurance for 90 year olds.

Is it actually a useful form of insurance to have?
If I can't play golf I'm not actually expending more money, just not using money spent.
If your income reduces due to illness insurance is available though it isn't necessarily cheap.

Over the past handful of years, such as probably for about 3 months now, plus 3 months last winter, I was paying for membership that I wasn't using/couldn't use so I feel the pain.

Unfortunately, we don't sign up to a monthly membership, we commit to an annual membership from the re-joining date but just happen to pay for that monthly. Subtle difference.

Until you see what damage a golf ball can do, you don't think about this. A bloke at my place got hit directly in the eye this year. Ended up in hospital. Emergency operation. Amazingly, stupidly in my opinion, he was back playing almost immediately. Big patch over the damaged eye. He plays for the senior team I'm in. I'm not 100% sure of his current situation, he is still playing with a patch on. I think he can just about see out of it, very blurred, but that's as good as it is going to get. So, for anyone who's wondering about insurance, get covered!
