Golf Subs- Can you pay monthly?

Are any of you aware of what happens if members'fall behind with their payments and how the Club tackles this problem?

Yes, 2 months behind and privilages to use clubs facility is suspended, 3 month and membership will be reviewed. Anymore and you lose the right to use monthly DD option.
Reserve right to use legal action.

We can pay monthly by DD and it doesn't cost us any more than if we paid in one lump sum.

With that I can't see why anyone would pay up front....

I would agree if we weren't charged an extra 10% - £75. This is the charge that is passed on if you pay via DD as the club gets the money up front from Fairway Credit. They have just published next years fees - if I pay up front in one hit £743 - via DD £817. I know which I'll be doing.

APGC doesn't use a Credit House - the DD is direct to them so I guess it doesn't cost them anything....

My Club also has a Monthly Direct Debit Scheme, I believe this is run via Fairway Credit, with 10 monthly payments, same as some others have mentioned
My Previous club, last year launched a Standing Order payment scheme, 12 equal monthly payments, no interest, that the member sets up with their bank, direct to the golf club

it is 400 a year but its quite a basic setup. Unfortunately for me price is THE major factor until my kids are all grown up :)

Otherwise I wouldnt be able to afford all the amazing GM Forum meets ;)

This has been an eye opener. Didn't know you could get such a thing as a credit agreement to pay your golf club fees. Obviously lots of money to be made by the Bank of America out of that one then.

You can pay by standing order at my place with no extra charge, but only when paying in advance. I paid my joining fee plus years subs when I joined then immediately started paying the following years by 10 monthly standing orders April - January. I like it, as if something financially bad came along, I know that I'm a year ahead with my fees. Club also has a draw at AGM for all members paying in this way and someone gets their years fees for free. You can also get your full money back if you decide not to renew before the start of the next season. Think it really works well.

This is what we do other than have a draw

We can pay in full, or by 10 payments spread Feb to November - like some of the above, its direct with the club so no admin fee. But seems like the monthly payments are nearly as much as some of the rest of your are paying for the full year... ( I jest of course - but not by much)

We have a facility to pay monthly by 'Fairway Credit' I believe there is a reasonable charge for this.
Same here, fairway credit is a scheme ran by Premium Credit, the same guys that finance a lot of insurance companies DD schemes. I pay premium credit for both car insurance policy DD's and my golf, no setup fees or anything, just the interest rate. 12 DDs (11 months then one month which is pretty much all interest.) I couldn't fork out 900 each January so it suits me.

We can pay via DD over 10 months but there's a charge of about £35 for using which I don't mind.
