As i am touring the USA in September (Los Angeles, Las Vegas & San Francisco) I was just wondering whether there are any good golf stores over there, just like we have AG, DG or Nevada Bobs?

Apparantly there is a fantastic store at San Francisco airport, which is in the Top 100 Golf Stores in USA list.

Peter,

I purchased my G10 Irons and had them custom fitted in Vegas last year. Also got my TM Putter as well which they discounted for me as I purchased the irons.

The guy in the shop was really helpful. I was actually looking at the i10's and he advised on the G10's, which were a cheaper club, but more suited to me as I'm a beginner.

Anyone that recommends the cheaper option you know can be trusted.

They handled all the shipping to the UK etc and they delayed the shipping so it arrived a day after i got home.

I'll dig the shop and his details out when I get home later.

Sounds brilliant mate. i was actually fitted for the i10's a few weeks ago and this is what is interesting me at the moment as I am not getting on extremely well with my MX-200's but I hit my mate i10's sweet as a nut. My mate got his i10's from USA last year too and only paid about £300?

If you can find me their details I would be much obliged.

Beware the import duty if you get anything sent across from the US. it would add a chunk on, and you only get to know when the bill arrives before the goods are delivered.

Much better to buy whilst you're there, use them, and simply bring them in your bag etc.
IIRC, you dont pay any duty on 'used' goods or something .....

If your buying a set of irons over there then just take your bag and woods.
Use your irons while your over there and dont clean them, more mucky the better.
So if you are unlucky enough to be searched at customs they will not suspect they have been purchased over there.
I have done this on 5 occasions and had my collar felt by customs twice and they never even asked the question.

Edwin Watts are a nationwide chain selling EVERYTHING which are always worth a visit.
Like A.G but 10 times better!!!
Thats American Golf not Alchemy Golf by the way

I would double check the prices before you go! My brother lives in the US and I have been looking at replacing my irons, we compared prices and most brands were in the region of £50 to £100 cheaper over here, probably owing to the weak Sterling vs Dollar?

Further to that I went to A/G today (there was a specific reason for me opting for them anyway), following a reccomendation I read in one of Bob's messages I opted for the Lincoln branch as 2 Pro's work in there(not too far from the office either).

They were more than helpful, didn't try and push me in the direction of any particular brand, I spent best part of an hour hitting different irons, made my choice and they worked out a cracking deal which included 50% off a top of the range stand bag.

Can't wait for them to be delivered - 7 days and counting!

EDIT: Just done a quick comparison Edwin Watts price for the same kit I bought would be £235 more!

From memory I got a guy visiting the states to get me a set of Callaway X-12's before they were even available over here, think it was in one of the New York Golfsmith centres.

Just come back from Florida, and prices for golf stuff is way more than it is here at the moment. Titleist 909 D2 is 400 dollars, but only 230 pounds here. Exchange rate was 1.36, so defo not a bargain. Used to be, but not now.

Just back from Florida as well the Titliest D comp was $450 even balls were expensive. Try Edwinn Watts , Golfsmith and Golf Galaxy and Special Tee GOLF
