How does a fourth person turning up to join a 3 Ball in a 4BBB or 3 people in a 4 man team event ruin the dynamic?

Putting like a god 16/18 holes then putting a horrendous stroke on a 4 footer on the 7th and just a complete switch off on the 12th
Looks like it will cost me a place into the doubles knockout as well
Even with them shockers I gained 3 strokes compared to a 5 handicapper

Why not if there is a space in a tee booking , a random is just a potential playing partner you haven’t met yet

Pretty much yes when having a knock about - decided years ago I only want to do things with people I like. Play with whoever you get in competitions, which is a good way of getting know people.

So no then!! By that comment do you then judge them on their ability as in how good they are or if they’re not good enough as they’re new to the game you don’t play with them!
I mean that’s how I read that. Glad members at my club are more welcoming regardless of ability.

I’ve been joined by/joined with loads of people I’ve not before, can only think of 1 or 2 occurrences where it wasn’t pleasant.

This is it for me with bells on as I have couple of issues with it. What if you don’t want to be part of a public WhatsApp group that allows anyone to have your contact number.
I’d much rather someone just pop their name in as is allowed and turn up and politely introduce themselves to me on the 1st tee than receive a random msg on my phone like some kind of Tinder date for golfers

Not that I had noticed
But then I hadn’t gone looking for it, having checked now you’ve mentioned. Seems that it does have that option but I wouldn’t use it to let someone know I’ve booked in as a 4th in a slot for comp with them. I also wouldn’t except someone to msg me for that reason.
Though I’d be more inclined to use that than have someone randomly me message me on WhatsApp, txt message or calling me.
