Golf Random Irritations

I put my earbuds in before when I first got them, and put them on the transparency mode, thinking it would help with hearing the sound of the strike. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the transparency mode actually applies a bit of gain to incoming sounds to help you hear them.

Weird one this bare with me! 2nd time in a row at the range I’ve been irritated and 1st time I’ve ever experienced what I don’t know whether to describe as golfing snobbery or just the arrogance of middle aged golfing dickheads.

Busy range at lunch time today as expected with glorious weather. Now for context I rocked up in shorts, t-shirt, trainers, cap and sunglasses, so nothing out of the ordinary and also had in ear headphones in as I often do, I am also covered in tattoos. Took up a bay sandwiched between a lady with her 2 daughters to one side and a group of 4 blokes competing on one of the Trackman course all dressed head to toe in golf clothes, polo shirt, trousers, caps and golf shoes which is not an issue to me I don’t care what anyone wears, however clearly an issue to them.

Was just going through my warm up routine of few stretches and hit a few wedges without any care where they go as a loosener. When I hear 2 of the guys in the bay in front mocking me complaining people shouldn’t be allowed on the range dressed like that it’s not appropriate, wearing headphones is a disgrace and having a hat on backwards isn’t golf, he looks like a yob! They also were moaning that kids shouldn’t be there making all that noise and just whacking balls, the weird thing is she wasn’t noisy and she wasn’t just whacking balls she had a good little technique, with headphones in I couldn’t hear her at all but I could hear them being obnoxious and belittling people.

When I looked behind me I could see the youngest little girl was upset and not wanting to hit balls as the men were talking about her and her mum was embarrassed! I had a word with them about what isn’t golf or appropriate and how wearing headphones or looking differently doesn’t make me deaf or a yob but it does make them judgemental arseholes and they should be ashamed of themselves for making a little girl and her mum embarrassed to be there. I also spoke to lady behind and her little girl she could only be about 6ish and just told her sometimes boys are mean because they’re jealous of how good she is and they don’t know how to have fun like her. Got a nice little smile out of her bless her and the mum, then I went back to my own practice and hit the ball really well.

When I finished up I got a thank you from the mum and the little girl gave me a fist bump which made my day bless her.

2 words : Well done !!! 👍

It sounds like you accidentally bought hearing aids instead of earbuds.

We got to our 6th green today and my ball was on the fringe 18 inches from a sprinkler head which was 20 inches from the green and directly on my line....
I was pretty sure I got relief from that and remembered that it was stated on the back of the scorecard...
Whipped it out - the scorecard obviously - only to remember that all our LRs and info you'd find on the back of the card are now behind a QR code....which is fine until you find out the Internet reception takes about an hour to load the barest amount of text...
Couldn't wait that long so I took the relief anyway...
But the point is that a lot of clubs are going down this route but many people don't take their phones onto the course, some don't even have one and even if you've got yours what do you do if there's no signal..?

I would suggest play 2 balls in this situation. 1 as it lay and 1 with relief.
Then check the rules when you get back in and apply the correct score.
Not sure if that is allowed but seems to make sense to me.
Out of interest did you check when you got in?

Just a reminder that playing two balls for a later ruling is not permitted in match play.

We're going back to having them printed on the card.
