Golf Random Irritations

...that nobody has ever told me that I need to remove the spikes/cleats from my golf shoes every so often to clean out the socket and thread - because if you don't then in time the socket will get bunged up or the thread knackered - and either way when a spike/cleat breaks you may not be able to replace it. Mentioned to one of our assistant pros and he tells me he removes them every 6-8 weeks.

And so its has come to pass for me with a pair of FJs not two years old. A cleat will have to have its screw cut off before being glued onto the sole.
Did he explain how the socket can get bunged up with a spike fitted? Not possible for much dirt to get in, certainly not enough to block it.

Carried through the winter months, but yesterday was forecast to be the best day of the year so plugged in my powakaddy battery and all it does is flash red and green on the charger.

Think it might be terminal 😫😫😫😫😫😫

Did you remember to turn the battery on whilst charging? I made that mistake when I first got my trolley - felt a right wally when the battery ran out halfway round.

Wow, I didn't think any of those still existed. We literally burnt our remaining cheque books a few weeks ago as they were utterly redundant.

Mine are still in the filing cabinet just behind me. Quickest way to get account number & sort code when needed for a new DD.

My cheques use to go - Seniors Christmas lunch, Seniors Christmas Lunch, Seniors Christmas Lunch.

If it's the terminal, you can generally use a water and baking soda paste to clean off any acid

I meant its terminal. As in final, dead, deceased!!!

And yes, Neilds, afraid I did remember the switch. Spoke to a guy who repairs and serices them and he thinks its the battery. Not paying £250 for a new one on a trolley that is quite old anyway, so have just ordered a new one

Still being on winter wheels when the course is firming up and it's 16℃. Can't moan too much though, when it's playing off grass, full tees and greens all winter. Should be back to regular trolley wheels very soon.

I know, just a silly electronics-based joke to lighten the mood

Does it make much difference? I've not used winter wheels

I find them very rattly and noisy, especially when the ground is dry or along paths. Thankfully we don't mandate their use so have stayed in the garage this winter (and I have carried most of the time anyway).

Was booked to play Close House yesterday. The website said winter wheels were mandatory until the end of this month.

Phoned them up on Tuesday to check this was still the case, given it’s been a very dry Spring. They confirmed it was.

Neither of us had winter wheels so planned to hire suitable trolleys at £16 a time.

Got there yesterday, there was a fleet of buggies outside the pro shop. I jokingly asked if buggies were allowed, they said they are, as of today. I said if that’s the case, are you still insisting on winter wheels because that would be stupid?

They replied “no, we lifted the restrictions today…”

Of course neither of us had brought our own trolleys. Very annoying.

I punched in the numbers from today's card at 10.30 this morning...no sign of it on the HDIDO App or EG App.....lost somewhere in the ether....

Need to change two of the spikes on my shoes and I can't find the little two-prong tool for screwing the new ones in. It's not with the spare spikes or the remover. Where the bloody hell would I have put it?? I swear something disappears like this every week in our house. Sick of it!
