Golf Random Irritations

Odd isn’t it, how we all learn differing ways to use the same tools. I draft emails in Word before pasting into Outlook, mainly for format but also for spelling and grammar.

My spelling and grammar checker that I thought was a freebee turns out to be a free trial which has ended. All of my previous, perfect posts were produce with barely a thought in my head.

Now? I'm going to have to concentrate and check everything twice, and still fail miserably.

Heaven knows how many mistakes are in this one.
Modern browsers have spell check built in though...

Outlook has the same spelling checker as Word. Both are Microsoft apps.
Happy with that, it’s the formatting that seems lacking in Outlook - unless I haven’t set it up correctly. I have to say that I’m not impressed with New Outlook. It’s just developed another issue where it won’t pick up my pop account emails until they are some 12 hours old. My gmail account is working ok. I’m working through the MS help suggestions.

Kick Outlook into touch and use something like Thunderbird.

Just uploaded it. Initial thoughts. It was very easy to install and picked up existing accounts without prompting. It works quickly. It defaulted to 'threads' which i am not keen on, but yet to find the 'unthread' button. Seems a bit slicker somehow.
Thank you for the advice.

I guess you're using it on Windows, so what follows may not be exactly the same for you, as I use it on Linux...

At the left end of the column titles (eg. From, Subject, Date, etc) there's an icon that looks like this:

Clicking it toggles threaded view on/off.

I look forward to my Thursday night range session all day. My daughter takes a while to go to bed but I managed to get her down and get to the range and hour and 15 minutes before closing... It's locked. No sign on the door, nothing on their Facebook page. Wasted journey then and no time to go anywhere else, cheers.

I wonder if they might have had some sort of emergency?
Seems strange to close up without saying anything.
Did they know you were coming?
Range near me you have to book a slot

1st rnd of clubs summer singles handicap ok comp sees me and my best mate at the club drawn to play each other. Now if that’s not irritating enough I have to give him 6 shots and I know he can play a lot better than his handicap. So can I…but not as much as he can. Anyway. Draw is done and so be it…may the best buddy win.

This is one of the reasons I don't play matchplay singles.....too personal for me, it really shouldn't be....but it is. When I was younger it wouldn't have bothered me much.

Having been a member of my place I obviously know loads of members and have no qualms knocking them out of comps. It’s just a pity this time it’s my best mate, both in the club and these days outside of it. No matter - has to be done.

Many years ago I beat my bestie of the time, in and outside of club, in the final of my then club’s scratch KO and even today some 35yrs later we still chat about how much we enjoyed it - with our then girlfriends, now wives, walking round with us.

No, it's not that sort of place, but I am there every Thursday night pretty much, and I know the owner 'knows' me a little bit as I've chatted and said hello a few times. If it wasn't an emergency I'll be having serious words today!

Meant to be playing this afternoon and one of the guys has just messaged to say it looks quite windy and it might rain, shall we bother?

It’s February and we live in England I could have told him that 6 months ago.

I have also moved other things about to play today.

Hoping the other 2 tell him to shut up and we are playing as well or I’m gonna have the hump all weekend

Have you replied and said you want to play? If the other two are wavering then you being positive and wanting to play may swing one or both. Play the psychological game.
