One question that does need asking is are the slots available to the general public? If yes they need to let members know and be aware not to use them. Probably a sensitive point but is the arrangement with the company a land lease, if yes the parking spots are actually their's and not the clubs.

I suppose the slots are available to the public but the club hasn’t got signage at the entrance about the charging points and the car park is not seen from the road so not sure if they would be aware.

It does sound like the club haven't understood the contract they have entered, if someone is installing them for free they will want a return and like you say those spaces will be their property

If it's available then the apps will have it. As will Google maps now days aswell so you don't need to know it's there

My car tells me via the built in nav that Lidl has the chargers for example

Do update when the club have more information as I suspect when it boils down to it then it will be in the agreement and someone won't have read it properly (either the club or the charge company)

I love the camera thing long term but not for a golf club with limited parking

We recently had some EV charging points installed at the club. Didn't cost the club anything and we get a cut of the rent (or something). Turns out the charging company have just installed a camera for the bays and not informed the club. Only came to light when members started getting £100 'fines' for parking in the bays with non EVs. Car park is not massive so the 8 or so EV bays need to be used. The club has since covered up the camera and contacted the firm to get it removed. They are also supporting those members who have been charged to get the charge rescinded. Good work by the club but very bad from the EV charging company - don't know who it is before people ask.

We did say we would look into installing them in the GK compound which is a good 400m away plus - didn’t want that

And they wanted them to be free

I know someone that plugs their car in at EV charging stations at golf clubs but doesn’t actually charge his car. He just parks there. It’s not me as mine is petrol.

Small car park near my daughters theatre group - they decided to turn one whole side of the car into charging spots for EVs , every Tuesday the car park is full apart the 8 charging spots which are always empty - so I park in one of those

It’s stupid when you have small car parks to then take loads of the spots away for EV only charge points

It’s stupid when you have small car parks to then take loads of the spots away for EV only charge points

That’s the price of progress and the push towards electric vehicles.

Is amazing that people moan the charging network isn't good enough using that as a reason not to switch then "too many charging spaces"

It’s not progress when there are countless empty spaces in a small car park and it ended up with people having to park on the road making it dangerous for kids

Maybe there needs to some common sense approach where something is not limited to just one thing - ie a parking space with a charging point in a full car park can be used by any one - or is that too sensible

The issue here sounds like the club not reading it's deal with the charging company and installing them without understanding what they have signed up for.

The correct answer is every single bay should have a charger installed. Unfortunately cost is the issue there. Because then everyone can just park in any. And have them slightly wider so they are accessible to all

Because our club is new the bays that are marked (some are marked some are gravel) are massive because it's not an old tiny car park that never was really fit for purpose.

I've had to park in the road at some courses, my old course I revisited they park cars on the driving range when busy and close the range

Quick add. We need more information on the chargers installed if rapid chargers then more understanding that they don't want people in them. Quick 20-30 min pit stops for turn over. However slow chargers for charging over few hours doesn't overly matter if blocked for a short period
