My random golf irritation is just golf. I’m playing so badly at the minute. Driving great, putting fine, everything else is back.
Another 5 players putting in GP cards whilst playing an Open Bowmaker yesterday. All visitors, some igolf some from local clubs - mix of low and high handicappers. A couple of the cards were attested by people they weren't playing with.
Sigh.
Yes we can delete them and will.So can you cancel them?
I’m a bit late to whs but if I played a game with 3 lads who were just social golfers without official handicaps could they sign for my score?Yes we can delete them and will.
Also we will write to the cubs involved and advise them of what we have done and why. Its all a bit of a faff.
I'm fairly certain a lot of clubs don't bother/care. I can only imagine the numbers unacceptable scores for handicap that are being entered (and not deleted) on golfers' records on a daily basis.
Unless they have the EG app and are a member of iGolf or iPlay then they cannot attest a score that is created on the EG app.I’m a bit late to whs but if I played a game with 3 lads who were just social golfers without official handicaps could they sign for my score?
Or if a player with a proper handicap played in the group behind could they?
Cheers for the reply.Unless they have the EG app and are a member of iGolf or iPlay then they cannot attest a score that is created on the EG app.
Dependent on the rules that have been instigated at your club re who is an acceptable marker, they may be able to attest a GP score created on your Clib’s handicapping software .
No one can (or at least should) attest a score for you unless they are playing with you.

Couldn’t agree more with your comments about the broad spectrum of replies from clubs and it is indicative of the huge variance in knowledge, experience and diligence across clubs.Interesting.
I have had similar issues with away players putting in scores from non acceptable formats, our 4BBB opens and instances where the attester wasn’t named on the tee sheet. Last year I just deleted the scores, however I raised the issue at the local WHS workshop and asked what the best approach should be, as in “who owns a players handicap record”. As you have done, the EG rep suggested I write to the players club setting out the issue and requesting them to educate the player, so I have done this and also asked if they would delete the score or should I? (Not always easy to find the contact details for some, mostly proprietary, clubs).
The response from the various clubs been very mixed. One secretary was adamant that their players wouldn’t be breaking the rules, another didn’t understand that only 4BBB competition scores were eligible, some didn’t reply at all and did nothing (I did), some actioned but didn’t reply and a minority said thanks for bringing it to our attention we will deal with it.
England Golf (Igolf) didn’t really want to know, despite providing them with screenshot evidence that the attester wasn’t on the tee sheet they suggested the attester could have been present but not played although they acknowledged it was unlikely as this occurred 3 times and could I follow it up. My answer to that was “he’s your member and you have his contact details so perhaps you could do it”. I don’t think anything happened. They said they would take this issue (remote attestation) to a governance meeting and geo location for attesters “is coming” but they can’t say when.
If England Golf want me to believe that Igolf handicapping is run with integrity they have some way to go.
The one I played in Monmouthshire yesterday was nigh on unplayable due to the ‘firm’ ground conditions. The golf course that I played in Gwent today.track.
The course I played was Woodlake Park and the reservoir it overlooked is 25 metres below its level when full.
There are a lot of side slopes there which aren’t the best in rock hard conditions. Rarely have I seen so many balls careering across fairways into ditches and hedges - not much fun really.
Pontypool. Nuff said.Do tell!![]()
Don’t like to hear that. We have our work society champs there next month so hope we have a lot of rain before then to soften the course. The course I played was Woodlake Park and the reservoir it overlooked is 25 metres below its level when full.

Same as above with Ref to Woodlake Park. Pontypool is built on the side of a massive hill. If you are not going across the slopes you are going up and down them. Brutal with rock hard fairways and tiny greens.Pontypool. Nuff said.
