I had a mate who used to tell us, if you par all the par 3's you are playing well. It appears that you weren'tPlayed 9 holes last night after work. Birdied every par 4 and 5, but doubled every par 3.

I was a bit like that last week, on the front 9 I parred the 5 holes where i received a shot, and bogeyed all the holes where I got no shots. Was 4 over on the 16th tee, but finished double, bogey, bogey for a net 70, coming 9th overallPlayed 9 holes last night after work. Birdied every par 4 and 5, but doubled every par 3.

One wasn't at Dunbar was it, the Open was there on Saturday and it must have been very windy, at least later on, I spent the afternoon in Berwick-upon-Tweed and it was blowing a hoolieStrong winds. I've played 2 opens over the past 2 weekends, at courses I really like, and it's been blowing a gale both times. It hasn't ruined the experience but it has made a it harder work than it should have been.
Brancepeth last week, Gosforth yesterday. Same wind thoughOne wasn't at Dunbar was it, the Open was there on Saturday and it must have been very windy, at least later on, I spent the afternoon in Berwick-upon-Tweed and it was blowing a hoolie
I saw on the start sheet at Dunbar there were quite a few from your neck of the woods playingBrancepeth last week, Gosforth yesterday. Same wind though. It just takes the energy from your game

That's not a surprise. It's an hour / hour and a half depending on where in Northumberland, easy run up, good course. Well worth it. Opens are just a great way to play other coursesI saw on the start sheet at Dunbar there were quite a few from your neck of the woods playing
We'll be heading down your way soon, my daughter and I go to Croft at Darlington for the Touring Cars, stop off at Washington services for a Costa on the way down, day at the racing then over to Hexham for a pizza before heading back up the A68, it's a great day out, lovely part of the countryThat's not a surprise. Come on Ori, we need to know! Are you giving up golf?Update: He's now accepted the fact he can't play and suggested we go ahead with the 2 v 1 this Saturday. Other chap hasn't answered to confirm anything this whole time though... I guess if he's not there on Saturday we claim the win.
If we play the match and somehow lose against one bloke though... Might have to quit the club and golf altogether.![]()

Just stop there cause it's handy, just for a stretch of the legs and a quick coffee, I'm open to other suggestions thoughWashington services. That has to be one of the worst in the country. Surely there is somewhere better to stop
.
Trips like that with your kids are great though. Great days out.
It is a bit of a dead zone around there and because it's within a reasonable distance from home at that point I'm never looking for somewhere around that area. Ultimately, you don't want to be travelling too far off the A1 so it probably is the best option. It's just a bit grim though.Just stop there cause it's handy, just for a stretch of the legs and a quick coffee, I'm open to other suggestions though
Being surrounded by Sombrero toting Grandads.......
Those who shall not named had 2 x 4 pointers and a 5 pointer respectively inside the first 5 holes......Playing a senior pairs open tomorrow. I note the handicaps of our playing partners, 26 and 28. I bet they beat 45 points![]()
