Golf - Olympics - Who Wins?

Fantastic really pleased for Justin Rose!! I take it the caddies dont get a medal?
Well deserved and if its good enough for a rowing cox.....

Presentation ceremony, anyone got a telescope.

What the hell is going on with the camera work?

EDIT

Ah, that's better.

Nice little handicap cut coming up for Justin

Great effort by Rose, after a quiet start seems the tournament offered up some great golf with a couple of big names making a good 4th round spectacle for the viewers, looked like a pretty healthy crowd by the end too.
I was very much of the mind that golf doesn't belong at the Olympics, might just have to review that opinion, the guys that did compete have probably done enough to get it back in for Tokyo 2020 in a country that loves golf (as opposed to Brazil) and also possibly convince the stay away big guns that it's really worth trying to play the Olympics, well done Rose, Stenson and Kuchar.

Really enjoyed it and good for the game (in the Olympics) that it came down to the last hole spectacle

Feeling pretty confident that the event & crowds haven't damaged its chances of longer term inclusion after Tokyo (quite the opposite in fact)

It is already in for Tokyo, I'm pretty sure any sport that gets introduced gets 2 Olympics anyway. However they will make a decision shortly if it will be extended past Tokyo.

Personally never thought it should be in and still don't. You will never convince me that in its current format it will help to grow the game. 15 mins of slight tension after 4 days of play with no one getting knocked out or eliminated as happens in just about every other Olympic sport, does not make for a great spectacle. IMHO.

I was only able to watch a couple of hours on Friday morning and, in all honesty, it was boring me to sleep.....
I'm sure the final round was great watching but the format is too long for the Olympics.
And I wonder how many who are singing it's praises would be doing so if it was Scott Hend and Fabrizio Zanotti going for Gold instead of Henrik and Justin...

Just as much as any one hit wonder at a major I guess.

I am in 2 minds about this. Yesterday was great viewing but any round with 2 top players battling it out in the final group with someone else making a charge is going to be. Could not have worked better for the Olympics with one of the biggest supporters winning the tournament. That said, I applied the 'wife test' to it. She has been fascinated by all of the Olympics but still could not find anything to interest her in the golf so not really converted anyone there. I think that the Olympics works best for non fans of a sport with events that are quick and easy to understand. Rugby 7s worked, 15 a side would not for example.

If the Olympics decide to have golf at the Tokyo games then then cynic in me says you will have far more of the top names playing. Not for any other reason than Japan has a huge market and all of the top sponsors will want their players out there even if they cannot play in branded kit.

Final round was good - but only because it was essentially matchplay. BTW - what would have happened if there was a tie for second. Would the two players have to go out for a sudden death playoff? I guess so. That would be a little weird. The comp going on after the winner known.
