Golf - Olympics - Who Wins?

Watching but not get much of a buzz and about to turn over - so not sure any non-golfer is going to watch for more than 10mins.

Agree with you and this.

I've been enthralled by synchronised diving, gripped by gymnastics and on the edge of my seat for the swimming. As a golfer I managed 20 mins of Olympic Golf and was bored stupid, I can watch better tournaments most weekends on Sky, just get out of the Olympics and stick to what golf does best.

I think if it gets won by a slightly tubby journey man Australian that even most golf fans have never no one heard of will be a fitting metaphor for golf in the Olympics.

It is too slow.... there is no way to have it fit in the Olympic viewers format

I have watched a good half dozen sports, none have needed more than 30minutes for me to see most of the event, have a good idea what GOOD v great is and see a winner more often than not.

Golf 1 hole is slow, now go ahead and repeat 71 times, Golf and the Olympics do not work.
Longdrive golf perhaps would actually fit better (I find it boring as hell to watch) but a 30 to 45 minute format would work within the context of general Olympic viewing.

Weirdly I think Longdrive could encourage more people to pick up a club rather than the actual golf we have (Presentation is very bad)

Does not matter who wins

Golfers have already lost interest in it

New viewers will never stick with it

Golfs 5th Major, people who said that Pre Olympics are I hope having a re think!

Golf should be pulled from the games in future, would prefer to watch the Swiss Masters from Crans Sur Sier or whatever it is called

Personally I think its ok,its a shame the worlds best are not there and will still take some winning even with this field, love the course, shame about the commentary though......

Watched a bit of the second round this morning. Very underwhelmed. An ugly, identikit course with next to no-one watching. They need to use a much better course and tempt a few more punters in Tokyo in four years time if golf is to survive in the Olympics. Maybe it would have had a better introduction at London 2012 what with the proliferation of decent courses in and around the capital and the British public's decent support for golf tournaments.

Actually quite enjoying it.
According to the beeb its also one of the better attended sports, mind you thats not hard. The attendance figures are appalling for virtually everything.
Do think they've mist a trick with the commentators though. Terrible.
Th'oud Alliss & Brown would definitely of added something.

The decision will be made very shortly if it will continue after Tokyo, the success or otherwise of the golf event in Tokyo will be irrelevant as the decision will have already been made. Agree about the London point, if it would have been brought in in 2012 then it would have been much more successful.

Well just watching the Olympic Golf tournament for a couple of hours now. What a revelation! Pure golf, no adverts at all, no gimmicks, no interviews, no costly suited & booted presentation team, just Golf. Fantastic stuff. Just goes to show what rubbish Sky actually is & how little action they show. I don't think Golf should be an Olympic sport, but just watching the coverage on BBC HD red button, I think its a great advert for the game. Come on Justin Rose..!!
