Who do you fancy to win the gold medal?

I've had a flutter on 6 players, all e/w, who i hope will do well

Gregory Bourdy 66/1
Thongchai Jaidee 66/1
Kiradech Aphibarnrat 66/1
Graeme DeLaet 66/1
Nicolas Colsaerts 50/1
Thomas Pieters 50/1

Would like to see the GB lads do well of course..

In a way I think it would have been better if it was an 18 or 36 hole shootout. Only die-hard golf fans are going to watch this in amongst other more traditional Olympic sports.

I have £3 each on Kaymer @17/1 and on Luiten @81/1

No idea if that i say good, but at least it would return a little bit.

Its been great seeing the pictures of Bubba with USA team, and all the other players proudly wearing team colours etc. IMO it makes the ones who pulled out look silly.
I don't care who wins i just hope its a good tournament.

Should've made it 4BBB format, straight knockout so 2 players win for a country. Missed a trick there. 72 hole strokeplay is a dull format to engage non golfers.

Yeah I tend to agree.

Will be interesting to see how much the weather is a factor.....been miserable last few days and strong winds

Streaming live on BBC sport website currently, course an odd mix but looks ok and greens superb, lush but fairways bumpy like a links but with water hazards. High rise buildings around it dont look great but its Brazil.

Looks nice. Looks like the first few are playing long though, but it's wide open. Could play into the hands of the bigger hitters, reckon Bubba and Colsaerts could go well.

Heard a fella on the radio this morning with a decent idea why they chose 72 holes over matchplay. The better players have more chance of winning over 4 rounds, straight knockout you could potentially have the favourites going out in the first round.

Should have done something different - maybe 3 rounds of stroke play with the Top 4 playing in a knockout matchplay format for the medals on Day 4.

There's no cut.
