Golf in Bromley / SE London

Hi everyone - appreciate there are a few older threads but looking to get a renewed perspective on the best clubs around Bromley (Beckenham) and the current rates and waiting times!

Currently a member somewhere outside the area, happy to spend the money if the club is worth it but seems a lot have some deep waiting lists!

I was a member at Shooters Hill near Welling while I was in London and I'd definitely recommend, couple of good swindles, different comps and formats etc.

I would suggest a little more information might be helpful. When you say "outside the area", can we ask where?
Theres the obvious Sundridge Park in Bromley, then Langley Park, Shortlands and Chislehurst

Currently up north, so I’m unfamiliar with the courses (other than reading these forums and Google).

I’m looking for as good of a course as you can get, courses like Chislehurst, Shooters Hill are quite short and I’m leaning towards wanting more of a ‘full’ course.

Current considerations are The Addington and Sundridge Park, but both have long waiting lists / extensive joining process. Other considerations are Addington Court, Langley Park

Shooters Hill is a good course so I wouldn't discount it without playing there

I’m at palace having spend a long period at Farleigh, 2 years at Croham and my junior golf at Shirley park. I think from the clubs excluding the addington and sundridge it’s the best in the area.

The Add is nice but has always lacked the “ club “ feel.

Langley Park is a bit boring. Most of the holes look/feel the same as each other - ie fairly long, straight and uninteresting.

Shooters Hill is a good course so I wouldn't discount it without playing there

Completely agree with this comment. Only played it the once but lovely course and really nice challenge of golf the length isn’t an issue as it’s so nicely set up.

Mrs M cousin is a member there and we went to their grandparents 60th wedding anniversary there. Had a good chat about the place as it looked lovely but he echoed your comments. It’s a great course but not a good club! He’s looking at moving away for somewhere that has better member interaction and doesn’t feel like a load of corporate blokes playing then disappearing after the 18th green.

Another course I’ve only played once, quite possibly up there with the most boring rounds of golf I’ve ever played!

Thanks! Is there much of a waiting list at the moment?

As far as I was aware last week we had 2-3 spots left in full 7 day memberships available. When I wanted to join I had to wait almost 18months for a spot. Rather than clog the thread feel free to message me direct.

It’s also worth search golf in south east London in the search box on here as there is a pretty in-depth thread

TBH, even Sundridge Park has been too wet to play at times over the last couple of winters.

The problem is a lot of SE London is on clay so not ideal

I don't disagree, but the rainfall over the last few winters has seen even the links courses on the coast closed.

Our club is on gravel hill which would give you an idea of what the ground is, we closed for three days over the entire winter.

Yes, I was quoted 3 years when I inquired!

Sundridge seems the ideal spot but they were more vague in their timings
