Hope your op has been sucessful and all is well with your recovery.
Several years back I had an operation on my neck to remove what turned out to be a benign tumor the size of a duck egg. I had the op in June and played in late aug. The neck takes an incredible amount of stress and strain during the golf swing and I still felt serious discomfort deep in the wound at that time. I really didn't lift a club in anger until the following season.
Don't underestimate the forces on and through your neck when you do start up again.
