McDowell has signed for Srixon Sports.

He'll be using Srixon Irons, Cleveland Wedges and soon to be released Z Star XV ball.

Money talks as they say.

Am I being naieve but at that level and with their fitting and tuning of equipment is there really that much difference between manufacturers anyway. Fiscal reasons only?

I'm sure it's for money only.

Like you say, can't be that much difference.

Their clubs sure look nice though.

Perhaps he *really* wanted to use the Cabretta glove? It is, after all, the best glove on the market! :D

Woosnam changed clubs. It didn't effect him.

Actually, yes, it did.

Can't see why you would change now. Surely Cally could afford to pay him the same money?

He has moved onto the US tour to chase the dollar, taken Srixons money to use their sticks. Sounds a bit money grabbing to me.

Mind you, I'd do the same.

May not just be money. Given that Callaway have Ernie and Phil M, McDowell may feel he has a chance to be a bigger presence at Srixon/Cleveland, notwithstanding Vijay and Furyk being on their staff, especially on the European Tour.

not saying srixon are small by any means, but nicer to be a big fish in a smaller pond, that a tadpole in a lake.

As someone said with c/f and tuning technologies they will make a club that suits him, but it has to be nicers being classed as one of the top boys in the camp, than just another player which i kind of get the impression he was at cally.

Fair play to him if he's getting more money.

I'm sure most of us would jump ship if we were offered more money to do exactly what we do now.

But I can hear it now. First bad outing with the new gear and the critics are going to be all over it.

If i'm not mistaken aint that a callaway ft9 driver in his bag? the one without the headcover on.

So does that meen he is still going to be using callaway drivers or do you reckon it may be cause srixon aint got a driver made up to his specs yet?

From G-mac website

"McDowell, who is a six-time winner on the European tour, will play Srixon irons,Cleveland wedges and Srixon balls he will also wear a Srixon hat and glove and carry a Srixon bag"

so u could well be right

It'll be interesting to see how he gets on with his new gear. He wouldn't be the first to make a big money switch to a new brand only to find his game going down the tubes. Hopefully that won't happen but time will tell, I suppose.

Srixon make nice clubs so don't think it will effect him, probably is about the money but good luck to him. Plenty of major winners have disappeared spectacularly after winning so you can't blame him for cashing in while he's got the chance.

I'd rather he did that than decide on a major swing change while at the top like some other eedjits have done

Do you really think he needs the cash..? I'd say that he's changing because Srixon make a better ball than Callaway.

A little of both imo

Good spot, although I think it is an FT Tour, not the FT-9, but good shout!!! :)
