GM Forum Country Club - WGT Online golf game

Just played the first round of the comp and Christ, putting is a nightmare.....or at least I makenitntjst way!!

Looked at distance, factored in the slope and worked out percentage only to see the ball shoot 15ft past!!

Lost count of the amount of times I was GIR only to 3 (or 4) putt!!

Sometimes I think the actual up/downhill indicator is BS compared to the gridlines

When I used to play this I had got pretty good at the short game stuff but last night I tried a couple of rounds in the tournament and the greens were just ridiculous. 15yds putts uphill that you give half power too on one hole and they go shooting past by 20 yds but on the next come up short by 10. Made finishing a hole a bit of a lottery and I posted some awful scores.

Tournament greens are the fastest. If you have the 'putter pal' makes things a lot easier. It will also tell you how far up or down hill the putt is so you adjust power and.not run it.miles past. For example if I have a 10 foot putt. And it's 3 foot down hill, on tournament speed greens I would power my putting bar to no more than 5 foot. Takes some getting used to but you won't be running many too far passed the hole with a bit of practise. I play if anyone fancies a game some time add me the user - TNSELWOOD

As with any computer game, it takes time to figure out various conditions and facotrs with chipping, pitching, putting etc

Granted, i am addicted to the game and play almost every day once the missus and kids are in bed. But once you start churning out great rounds its hard not to go back for more

Realised why I hate the game.
1) Par 4s you can't reach in two even with decent equipment
2) Wild inaccuracies in putting. Even if you catch it perfectly it can start yards off line. Completely out of your control. Apparently buying a better putter/ball will help with this. Why should I spend money to remove random?
3) Pitching/chipping is near on impossible to judge.
4) Penalised way too much for hitting fairway bunkers. You just cannot get good distance even if you're not embedded.

1. save up for the Ping G20. My average drive is nigh on forum distance!
2. not seen that to be fair.
3. If you are within 20 yards, practice the flop shot. best short game shot there is. My tip is not to finish the slider on the middle where you would normally, stop it on the line about an inch to the left!! Trust me here!! Full back spin too.
4. Just dont try and take a 4 iron, 6 and above will be decent enough. Or dont go in them!! LOL

Totally agree about the putting so far although need to spend more time before I throw in the towel.

The issues for me are....

1. The breaks - it looks like a fairly gentle break so aim a foot or so outside the edge only to miss the other side by 6 feet!
2. The speed - 15 foot with no slope, 40% power which should give me 12ft of roll only to see it finish 16ft past! I know the greens are tournament speed but it's just stupid

1. Look at the speed of the break lines. the faster they are, the harder the break. It takes time but eventually you'll have it sorted
2. Ive never encountered what has happened to you there... Although at tournament speed (11 to 13) i usually hit a no slop 15ft around the 10ft mark

**UPDATE**

New tournament added - Birdie Fest - i changed the settings to allow a low scoring comp - get some confidence in you guys starting up

Goodluck!
