I played there on Monday morning and I know many of you warned me beforehand!!!
It's a nice course, some lovely holes on the eye but they are doing "LOADS" of work to it, many of the fairways had been re-laid, a few of the greens had been re-laid and most of the other greens were still showing signs of hollow coring. I'd be worried they all won't be back by April for you mate.
The gripe about the walk between green and tee has been well covered elsewhere so I'll leave that as it is.
My main worry for the Ryder Cup is the fact (in my opinion) there are not enough good matchplay holes.
I can see the 16th being a good Ryder Cup hole and a few of the shorter par 4's but whilst they were reachable for me off the front tees, different holes off the very back.
All in all it was a good experience and great to walk the fairways where the boys will do battle in a few years.
The birdie on 17 ended the day well too!! 8 iron to 3.5 feet, wonder how many times I'll remind folk of that in 2014!!
