Game of Thrones

From what the die hard fans are saying, the series stays very true to the books.

I only came across GOT because all of my other shows have had their season finales. Didn't really catch my eye until the 1st episode. I'm hooked.
Now we gotta wait til 2013 for season 3 which is so frustrating. But thankfully, both ''Breaking Bad'' and Dexter's new season's starts soon:)

7 years....but thought I would resurrect it’s own thread.

Season 8 trailer released and it looks epic!

The stupid American needs to hurry up with the books!! Refuse to watch the TV show until he either dies before finishing or I've read all 7 books!!
Is he even writing anymore? The amount of money he must be making now, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t just consider the advice he’s giving to the show for the final season as his last bit of storytelling.

I'd heard he was more interested in writing a sequel series of books about the Targaryans and then the subsequent battle for the throne with Robert Baratheon.

Whatever happens I've read all the books and cannot wait for this seasons episodes

I've never seen it but now am watching on download from Sky and just getting to the end of Season 1. I have to say I'm really enjoying it.
It will take over your life, it's seriously addictive.

I am ridiculously nervous about the new series. There are bound to be so many deaths of long loved characters.

I was of the same mind until last few weeks/months, then I realised that he's never going to finish them. They will almost definitely be ghost written after he's dead.
He's 70 years old and has pretty much admitted that he's enjoying the free rides that are being thrown at him too much to have time to finish editing his remaining books.

I stopped watching at the end of season four, as that was just before the books stopped. All of my family and friends are fed up with not being able to talk about it when around me for fear of spoilers.
I've decided enough is enough and I'm now halfway through season seven. Wow, how glad I am that I did, they have exceeded all of my expectations!
Each episode just keeps getting better and better.

I think he's signed an agreement with the television company, to not release the next book until they have finished. I'll a stubborn youngish man, if he dies he dies then I'll start watching!

After watching so many poor adaptions of books I loved I'll wait!

I have read the books but have not watched the TV series, it is very annoying that he has written the ending for TV but the remaining 2 books are still unwritten/unpublished, and yes he has written a prequel.

I know it is his project and he can do what he likes but it is the books that got him the TV series in the first place and I think it is disrespectful to people waiting for the remining books to come out.

Could be worse...
Patrick Rothuss takes it to a whole new level with his Kingkiller Trilogy.
He mocked Martin when he released his first book by saying at least his series was finished. We're still waiting for the third book eight years after it was promised, and when his fans ask him when will it come out he slags them off.

Yes I'm also waiting for this book, apparently he wrote it when at college and was splitting it into 3 books, I wonder if he's lacking a publisher?

I've never read the books, don't intend to. The TV show however, is epic. I recently rewatched the whole 7 seasons again, this time mrs wedge watched as well, and despite being "not interested" she is just as hooked as I am. Also have 4 other friends who have all just binge watched 7 seasons for the first time, not one of them disappointed, all totally hooked.

I got goosebumps watching that trailer.

Not really, the first two books (Name of the wind 2007, The Wise man's fear 2011) have both sold massively. The third book (Doors of Stone) has been promised for years. There are rumours that the first two books had to be heavily edited by the publisher (Daw Books), something which Rothuss has resisted with the final book. He's done a George Martin and appears to be enjoying other things rather than finish the final book.

Rothfuss not finishing The Kingkiller Chronicles annoys me way more than Martin not finishing A Song of Ice and Fire, even though I do love ASIF.

The scene when Merlin takes on Conan on his unicorn is epic, although seeing skeletor sneakily just fighting the eventual winner was a surprise.....
