SPOILER ALERT
Having binge watched the first 7 series just over a year ago and really enjoying it, I've totally lost interest for a new series. Story has gone cold with the long wait.
I haven't read any of the books but the white walkers/dead army theme, though always present in the background in GoT, has taken over and is of less interest to me than all the politics and skullduggery that used to be at the heart of GoT. The core theme used to be battling and politicking to get to sit on the Iron Throne. The Iron Throne is the centrepoint to it all yet the white walkers and dead army just want to reign destruction on any living thing, seems little to do with the Iron Throne aim. They're a sidetrack to the main story which for me was who could defeat the nasty Lannisters, take the throne and live happily ever after!
Will give it a chance though, hope it's doesn't go too 'summer blockbuster' and retains some of the original plots and intrigue.
