Gadget overload yesterday.....

Yesterday i used my Electric trolley (remote controlled) and skycaddie for the first time, I was really looking forward to the round as i dont get to play as much as i would like, due to having a little 17 month old boy.

I have to say though for the first 9 holes i felt as though i was juggling between looking at the sky caddie, trying to keep the trolley in a straight line and filling my pockets with the remote control and consule. It was possibly the most harrassed i have ever felt on a Golf course. I am not saying that gadgets are a bad thing but yesterday certainly made me think.

Does anyone else find some of these things a burden when they are not properly stored in holders etc.

I made a little "nest" for my SG5 that clamps onto my powakaddy handle, so theres no need to touch it. Just walk up to the ball the SG5 screen is looking straight at me. No picking out of pockets, or pulling out of the bag....easy.

yeah, I realised after the 2nd hole that i really needed a clamp/holder for it. As for the trolley I think i just needed L plates.

I'm obviously easilly distracted.... :D

Get a trolley mount for the skycaddie and you should be fine. I certainly have no problems.

That said I don't have a remote controlled trolley as I think they may be too fiddly, although I have never tried one.

Maybe im being a bit hasty but i'm not at all impressed with the remote controlled trolley. I will leave it for a few more rounds then decide. As for the Sky caddie, great piece of kit, just need to stop looking at it to much and get back to concentrating on the swing.

I have a remote control trolley and it's fantastic, I deem it as my 15th club. I'd be lost without it. Once you get used to it you wont look back, (unless it breaks down). lol

I carry my bag so have no trolley related problems. I tried to find somewhere on the bag that I could attach my SG5. So far I have failed to attach it in a satisfactory way and I don't like the belt clip so it just slips into my trouser pocket.

Sky Caddie rocks ! I used it tonight on the 2nd course at my club for the first time and it was a great help.

I just use the belt clip with my SG2.5 to attach it to the GoKarts top bag strap. Seems to be secure enough.
But I carried the other day and had the Skycaddie attached to my belt and it was forever in the way, so I turned it off after 5 holes and popped it back in the bag.

I'm the same a smiffy. I just clip it to the top strap. Quick look as I get to the ball to get the distance.

Occasionally check the carry or layup distances on some holes.

But I remember when I first got it I was constantly messing with it, marking every shot etc etc. Can be really distracting.

I think with these things you just have to take the initial pain and get it out your system and work out what works best for you.

Remote control trolleys do my head in. I played with a guy who had one and he was forever making minute adjustments to it direction which was really distracting. I was praying for the remote to be out of range and see the trolley go ploughing into a lake!! :D

My SG5 clips onto the top strap of my Powakaddy with no probs, if I carry it either goes in the mesh drinks bottle holder (pencil bag) or in my arse sky rocket.

The Skycaddie trolley attachment is a massive rip-off at £50 in AG, no cheaper elsewhere.

I don't find clipping onto a trolley strap a particularly good solution; it's secure enough but I want the screen in front of me as I walk up the course.

Twire' I'm interested in your nest.

I think thats probably the main issue, new piece of kit and not concentrating enough on the golf. I have to admit the sg5 was amazing, especially if you happen to stray of the beaten track occasionaly.

Gents. What you need is one of these.......

I have one and it's brilliant. It comes complete with the bracket and screws and is VERY secure. As it says on the item just state which trolley you have when ordering i.e. Powakaddy or Motokaddy and he will send you the appropriate one.

I recommended this to theeaglehunter and he seemed pleased with his.

Have a look ta it tomorrow Viscount, it's still only a prototype, but I could knock you something up if you like it.

I think most know my own opinions on Skycaddie's etc, so I wont go there.....

But, my Powakaddy is fab, absolutely love it. Not remote control or anything, I would think that could be a pain, but not carrying is helluva leap for me.
A huge help with my completely fecked left knee :(

Twire' look forward to seeing it,

I'm also trying to work out a mounting bracket for my camera - it's a bit big to fit a pocket. So far the thinking is removing the head from a tripod and mating it with an umbrella attachment bracket.

see you tomorrow

I definitely am pleased with it, it was a bargain and saved me shelling out for the real skycaddie mount / bracket. I would certainly now second this reccomendation to any forumer. :D

I've been thinking of wats to atatch my Sureshot to my trolley, as the usual way of cliping to top pocket of trolley bag or on belt clip is less than ideal. The best solution I'm working on is to make an attachment for the brolly holder, that would get me the viewable on the move option I need. Need something that wouldn'tobscure using the brooly holder for its intended purpous though
